I am a major Fender bass fan -- I've owned 5, plus a Squier, and currently have four of them: all Precisions ('51 RI, Classic '50s, fretless and AV '57) but I have now fallen in total love with a non-Fender bass amp: a Mesa/Boogie Walkabout Scout 1x15 I bought new in February. I played it at an outdoor gig Saturday night and the AV '57 sounded PERFECT through it. For the first time ever, members of the audience were coming up and complimenting me on the bass sound. It was right there, never overpowering, never lost in the keyboards and drums, present and musical. To put it shortly, it made my P sound like the ideal Precision.

I've got the Bassman 400, but I'm afraid I won't go back to it.

I'm using The M-Pulse 600 Simul-State Bass Amplifier. M-Pulse amplifiers provide a toneful balanced Direct Out featuring a three-pin XLR with selectable Pre/Post options that let you choose between the huge warmth of your stage sound or....the stripped focus of your bass when interfacing to live or recording consoles.

I Still Use A Fender Single Speaker 12 Watt Max 26 Watt Musicmaster Bass Amp That I Bought 31 Yr's Ago. It's Still A Great Amp And Loud Enough To Play A Small Club. Great Amp.

Fender BXR300. 300W amp + 15" Eminence speaker. Purchased new in 1995. Heavy as hell. Broke several times and the repairs were very expensive. Once died right before the show. I hate this amp. Once I needed to take it up the stairs three floors out of the underground rehearsal point to my car ALONE. When I finally wheeled it outside I thought I'm going to die.

I said to myself I'm selling this crap and getting something light, portable and good sounding. I've got me a Genz-Benz Shuttle 600W head and all the rest, but this crappy Fender still sounds better. I've tried MarkBass Traveller 151 cabinet but it sucked compared to Fender's. Dammit. I hate it. I even cannot sell it because nobody wants it. It was through dozens of concerts, all torn up and dirty.

I took the amp out of the cabinet and made it a head enclosure, but it's still too heavy.

Wanna buy it???? Cheap!

I'd buy it right now if I lived closer. Did you build the cabinet for your head yoursel? That's what I'm working on doing right now. You're right too, that amp is heavy as CRAP.

Yes, I did the box for the head myself. Nothing fancy, just a box, some green tolex, metal suitcase corners and rubber feet. Surprisingly, my tolex holds better that fender's black crap.
