Backstages can be a risky place for things that can grow legs, and feet, and can walk away so to speak.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've always watched my gear like a hawk when I did gigs, but those were at clubs, and I suppose there are situations where that can be difficult, especially dealing with situations where you worked, which was on a larger scale, with a lot more people coming and going through there. How did you deal with that, or did you when you worked the road? Was there people around to look after the stuff, or how did that go?

We all looked after the equipment as it was all of our own. The Main Thing I was adamant about with the others in the crew, don't get distracted. Stay in your spot. If someone wanted them to go and do something, other than what I told them to do, they were to hold their ground, and request them nicely to speak to me about what ever. And I didn't give a tinkers damn who they were, or what they requested of the crew member, or members. It was on me, and I called the shots when it pertained to performers equipment. It may sound nasty, but we never had any items unaccounted for. Image

That's really good way to have done that, since obviously that was quite efficient. Was there any instances of anyone trying to rip stuff off?

Not that I'm aware of.

I imagine not, since you all ran a tight ship with that. Although, I'm sure there are those that will try to do anything, if so compelled to do so.

"If there's a will, there's a way", scenario. The main thing is, don't get distracted. That's usually when an attempt can be made.

Yeah, people look for stuff like that. Any opportunity, and they'll take it.

Or they attempt it. Some think it's worth a shot.

You know, that's something I could never bring myself to do, no matter how much I wanted something or whatever. I've done a lot of things that I've regretted in my life, but I've never stolen someone's stuff. I guess I know what it's like to have to bust your arse to buy the stuff, especially when I started out.

Same here with me. I've had some of mine taken. That's life I guess.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I suppose technically I've had stuff stolen, but I did abandon it when I left Florida, and it was ripped off at a friend's house, who also lost stuff. It was probably most likely that I'd never see that stuff again, with how my situation worked out, anyhow. It wasn't too much of a loss, since I've long since then replaced it with much better gear, anyway. At least I've been fortunate enough not to lose something at a gig, like my amp or bass, so far. That's why I watch the stuff like a hawk. The places I've played in aren't hard for me to do that, too. It's not like I have to go around and socialize with anyone, or some other PR type stuff if that's even necessary. It's my girlfriend's show, anyhow. I'm just there to back her up, and carry all of the gear in and out.

It's always nice to have another person watching out for gear.

That's true. Especially someone you can trust.

That sure is to the top of the list, that's for sure. It helps when there are 10 eyes watching the equipment, all with one resolve.
