I recently had my Rumble 200 Combo blow a power board. The amp is only 4 years old, I don't move it a lot, I don't play that loud, but it failed. It would cost about $300 for the local shop to fix. They gave me a deal on a new Rumble 200 ($450 - shout out to MAE in Davie) and I took the old amp home. After checking all the speaker connections inside the amp and where they land, I determined if you remove all the connections from the other boards connected to the speaker circuit board you can back feed your amp through the external speaker port and use it as an external speaker cabinet. You can still use the switch to turn the horn on and off. It is not necessary to cut a single wire. All you have to do is remove the factory wired plastic connectors.

The sound now is amazing. I made lemonade from lemons. If your combo amp fails in a significant way, don't throw it away; turn it into an external cabinet.

Did you buy it second hand and not transfer the warranty? My Rumble 500 is getting close to it's 5th birthday, when it's warranty will expire. (sigh) But it's never given me a moment's trouble.

The shop where I took it told me the warranty was only 3 years, but now that I think back it's probably been closer to 4-1/2 years. My amp never gave me a problem before this happened. I would leave it on sometimes for the whole day on the weekends, but it shouldn't have failed. I love the amp, that's why I bought another one. Now that I have the bottom cabinet, it blows me away. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Per https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... y-product- if purchased after January 1, 2017 the warranty is now 2 years.

But, IIRC, if purchased before that date it was 5 years! Your shop just may have conned you out of a free replacement! I do hope that wasn't the case.

Otherwise, congrats on your new "stack". A matching, not wider, 115 extension cab is the dream of many a Rumble 200 owner.

G-Dog, you are the man.

I called Fender and they confirmed you were correct. I called Guitar Center and got the original receipt and sent it to MAE Music in Davie, FL. They are the authorized repair center for Fender.

The owner looked into it and confirmed the amp was under warranty. Fender told him to give me a new one. MAE refunded my money and I still got my double stack!

Right on to MAE Music in Davie, FL for correcting their mistake. These guys are the best.
Right on to Fender for standing behind their product like the first class company they are.
Time to Rock and Roll!!! :D

Win - win!! That's fantastic! I know Fender is a class act. SO very glad that your shop is, too. That's a great ending to an, otherwise, disappointing turn of events.

Rumble On!
