Today I noticed that my Rumble 500c has developed the dreaded scratchy pot problem.

Only the Master volume is affected, and only when running a signal through the the amp while adjusting the volume meilleures mutuelles senior. Have tried turning the knob several times before turning the amp on to no avail.

It's also my understanding that since the pot is sealed, the problem can not be solved with contact cleaner and the like.

Is there anything to be done short of replacing the pot altogether?

Maybe you should check the transformer for it can be grilled and you should rewind or replace it altogether.

Thanks for weighing in.

The reports I’ve heard indicate that contact cleaner does not work with these pots. Besides, since this problem appears only when a signal is fed through, it suggests that the trouble is elsewhere. In the case of dirty contacts, I would expect to hear the noise whenever the pot was turned.

Could be a leaking capacitor too.

Cleaning a sealed pot ; A pro can sometimes clean them. Try to spray Contact Cleaner from the chaft.
Put amp with shaft up, remove knob and spray contact cleaner around the shaft. Turn at least 10 times.
