Yeah, the cable was on sale for like $10, so you probably can see why I jumped on it. Those Speakon cables aren't usually cheap.

You know that's right about the Speakon cables costing a lot.

Yeah, I'm just glad the Ampeg doesn't have the Speakon only jack on it like the Orange had. I think most amps have the Speakon jack that you can plug into a 1/4" jack, as well, these days. When that Orange came out, I don't think they had those out, yet. I'll bet the new Orange amps probably do. Still, I do like the Speakon jack, and use it with the Ampeg, even if I don't need to. I got the cable already, so there was no point in getting another 1/4" one. It does have the 1/4" jack on the other end, so I can plug it into any cab. The Fender cab has a Speakon jack with it, but you still got your older cabs that don't. I've used a Kustom 2 x 15" cab, and had to use that cable, but that was with when I still had the Orange. There's a 60's mixed amp rig for you, Orange head into a Kustom cab, except it wasn't a 60's Orange amp. If I had one of those, I'd have to wear bell bottoms, and have mutton chop sideburns. :P

You're not gonna' get me going on the 60's Kustoms again. I just wish I had money back then.

Yeah, I know those amps weren't cheap, but worth it, especially if they are still up and running these days. I don't know what they go for on the used market, but I suppose that depends on condition, and all of that to begin with.

They're still in business, albeit not the padded ones from the 60's/70's, but I've heard they are still pretty decent amps. You go over to Reverb.com and they have a bunch for sale, from the 60's to now. If you have $13,000, here's a serious collection from 1965 - 1970: https://reverb.com/item/11718641-kustom ... -naugahyde Imagine having all of that hooked up in your house. :P

That would be something! A lot of Kustoms there.

Yeah, that's one hell of a collection there. Of course, if you had $13,000 to spend on all of those Kustom amps like that, would you? I guess that depends on how much you like them, and you have the space for it. Then again, if you had $13,000 to spend like that, that probably wouldn't be an issue.

If I had the cash, I'd seek out a more individual amp setup. Maybe the 250 head, with 2 2x15 JBL's, in the Red Gold Metal Flake.

That would be cool. I think I spotted one of those on that site. I went back again, and someone had this for $600, but local pickup, and it's from the 90's. 400 watts, and 4 x 10" Jensens, though. https://reverb.com/item/25441249-kustom ... tanooga-50

Yeah, it looks like a nice rig, and not too bad shape, either. I guess the side of the Naugahyde has some damage, where there's tape, but as long as everything works, who cares about that? That's just wear and tear on the road. I wonder if there's any way of getting that fixed, or are there anyone that does any restoration with those amps? I suppose the hardest thing would be having the actual material to do that, wouldn't it be? It's not like they are still making those anymore.

Yeah, I don't know where you'd find Naugahyde theses days, but that Naugahyde was a pretty solid material that held up really well.

It certainly looks like it. The majority of those amps that I've seen seem to have held up really well, especially considering they're around 50 years old, give or take a few years. I was looking again, and look at this one: https://reverb.com/item/29042542-kustom ... amp-1990-s That's like that blue one, but it has a 2 x 15" cab, and it's $300. 8) That one is in North Port, Florida, which looks like a bit southeast of Sarasota, which was south of my old neck of the woods. You ever been there? I'm sure I have going to Fort Myers as a kid, but I don't remember. I really don't even remember Fort Myers, to be honest with you, since you're now talking at least 40 years ago, and most of Florida pretty much looked the same back then, or didn't deviate much from St. Petersburg.
