You think you might like the TX300 over the HA2500 after all? It is a lighter amp, with an extra 50 watts, but you're not going to have that graphic EQ, though. I suppose the one way to see is try it out.

I actually went the other way today, and acquired a Hartke HD75 Combo. I realized I was going off of where I wanted to be with a smaller, mobile, 12" HyDrive, with a headphone jack. The 75 watts is fine, and it has a 7 band EQ. If I can't get the sounds out of this smaller setup for an 11X13 room, I will have totally gone over the deep end on this then. Image

You know, all I had for many years before I got the Fender Rumble 350 combo, and eventually my current Ampeg/Fender stack was a Peavey Basic 60 combo, which was this 50 watt combo with a 12" speaker, that worked for rehearsing in the house, and although for some demo recording I did with my 4-track. I also gigged a couple of times with it, since I wasn't playing with a live drummer, and it was hooked up to a PA. Bigger shows, I had to borrow an amp, but then I finally got the Fender. Anyway, I'm sure that Hartke would blow that Peavey out of the water, not even counting the fact it's 25 more watts, and you have that speaker. I think you should be OK in your practice room with it. What made you decide to get rid of the HA2500, anyway? It wasn't portable enough for you?

Portability was one thing, but there was just something about the tone having a flat tone. Even with the 10 band EQ. This HD75 has a 7 band EQ, but it has the 1" tweeter. Maybe it's the tweeter, the cab it's in, or the HyDrive speaker itself. For 75 watts, its power, and punch sounds so much richer, at a lower volume as well. True, I dropped 175 watts that really wasn't needed, but again, this deep clean tone, and power punch is AMAZING! Like I said, maybe there is difference between the speakers, and or the EQ's of the two enclosures. Not all speakers are the same.

You like it better than the combo with the 15", the one you have before the HA2500?

Definitely. I don't think I've had a tone, and punch like this since my days with the Jensen 12's.

They still make Jensen speakers. Which amp was that one?

The 2X12 cab I made with the Jensen Concert Vibranto 12's, and the Traynor head. The cab sounded fine, it was just too over built. I also had a Kent combo with a 2X12 setup. This Combo sounds great! For 75 watts, the 12" HyDrive, and the 7 band EQ, Hartke strikes again. Image

I just finished playing, and nailed down the sound this Combo is compatible too. It sounds like the Super Bassman, with the Ampeg SVT-410HLF. When I was playing Led Zeppelin, "How Many More Times", really has the sound.

Sounds good. 8) I wonder what an all tube head would sound like through one or more of those HyDrive speakers? Did you ever try that out? I do remember you having a HyDrive cab before, but I don't remember exactly what head you had with one other than Hartke ones. It seemed like you might have had something else, but I'm not sure, with one of the first HyDrive cabs you had.

I remember the TX600 through the HD210. I had a Super Bassman through the HD115 cab. back around Jan, or Feb.

I thought you might have had, but I wasn't sure. How did that all tube head respond with the HyDrive speakers?

Very good. I kinda' liked the Super Bassman with a HyDrive cab, an Ampeg SVT-410HLF, or the Ampeg SVT-212AV cab. The HD75 had me at a loss for a bit, trying to pin down what its sound is like. Then when i started to play Led Zeppelin, "How Many More Times" it clicked. The Super Bassman's tone. Pretty damn sweet for a 75 watt combo. I'm really liking Hartke products. The HD75 is just, WOW!

It's funny how you've also gone from either a 1000 watt Class D head with that Ampeg SVT-7 Pro, or that 300 watt all tube Fender, to a 75 watt combo, yet you're digging this amp a lot. I suppose you really didn't need that much horsepower though, did you?

It sounds GREAT, and I love the hell out of it. No, I didn't need all that power. Once again, old habits die hard. I can only play at lower volumes in here anyway. This isn't the empty stage at MSG. Those days are gone, just dust in the wind. But it was fun for a while, and its alive, and somewhere in my mind. Hartke amps Partner!!! Image
