I guess what that all boils down to is greed. Who knows what will happen to this country in the next few years. I just hope we don't wind up in some major war, but it's been looking like that with a lot of the crap going on.

Eventually one of these yaya middle east radical countries will do something to far out of bounds, and a Trident will surface to 150', and launch one of the ultimate BIG UNS'.

I'm thinking if anyone, it might be Iran, especially because of that drone attack on those oil reserves in Saudi Arabia. They seem pretty convinced they were behind that.

It's very possible with them to do that, and think they can get away with it. Iraq isn't that smart either.

I don't know, there's always something going on over there, either way. I'm just glad I'm living in a place where at least I don't have to worry about that so much. Sure, there's crime, and occasionally some wacko going on a rampage, but at least it's not a war zone like over there, with all kinds of bombings and everything else. At least not yet, anyway. I don't take anything for granted. Imagine having to live in that? Well, you've been in it, so you know, but at least you made it out and got to go home. Imagine if that was your home. That has to be horrible.

I learned a couple of very simple life lessons. Eat light if you have to travel, and,........... KILL EVERYTHING & EVERYBODY, and you'll live. Barbaric? YOU BETCHA'!!!

But let's talk Hartke HA2500 amps. I still have mine, and have no intentions of doing any change outs, Hartke head, or cab. Image

So, it's been working out for you rather well then, I take it? Would you say it's the best amp you've used, or you've had others, but they were more expensive and you weren't able to get one at this time?

The others I've had, the tubers were damn close, but the EQ on this one puts it over the top. I do think if I even had the abilities to get the Ampeg, or the Fender tube amps, the HA2500 would be the choice.

That EQ on the Hartke is something, I remember that from the ones I've played through. You know, I miss all of the old school Hartke stuff they use to have around. They had the 2 x 15" and 2 x 12" cabs, and various combos and other heads that covered a wide range of options.

I guess a lot of that is probably considered "obsolete" now, with the light weight Class D amps that go to 1000 watts, or whatever. Sure, it's a lot more convenient. and rightly so, but there was something about those old school amps that had something to them. I don't know, maybe it's youth nostalgia. Still, something like an HA3500 (or even your HA2500 model) and a 2 x 15" cab would move some serious air, especially in a club, and that's just a 350 watt head. I know a Peavey Mark IV head did in a 2 x 15" cab, and that thing was 210 watts, unless you had another 4 ohm cab to get it to 2 ohms, and it was 300 watts, which I never got to do.

A lot of it does have to do with the efficiency of your speakers, besides the watts from the amps. I think that's why I always had trouble when I had Carvin cabs, because let's face it, they weren't the greatest. Especially when you compare them to an Eminence, or like you could, a Hartke. Night and day, there.

When I first started playing today, the volume was up louder than I ever had it up to. WHOA!!! Impressive for a 250 watt head through the single 12". I would like to hear this HA head through a 2X12, or 2X15 cab. I thought the Kustom 2X15 cab with any speakers, was something else. 15's With a decent head can be awesome. i do like the HA Series, and wouldn't mind having a HA3500, with a cab to handle it. But Im not even considering changing out the Hartke rig I'm playing through. Today was another fine session. TURN IT DOWN!!! Image

I remember they used to have just a 200 watt head, before they came out with the 250 watt one, and I've seen guys use that particular one through a couple of 15"s and he was fine. Of course, their guitarist was playing through a combo amp, and not some monster Marshall stack, so there is that, but then again, you can't really crank a Marshall 100 watter in a club, anyway. It's too friggin' loud! I know you see these people over at Talkbass acting like you have to have 1000 watts, otherwise you'd be drowned out, but yeah, maybe you do if you have crap speakers, and a crap crab, but I think that is the problem. It also depends on how the EQ is set. Too much of the bass frequency will eat your wattage, too.

It's funny that I even mention that, when I have an 800 watt head, and a 1000 watt one before that. :P The only reason I do and did was because I got the first one dirt cheap, but then I didn't want to give up that power when I got rid of it, even though I really don't need it, at least at the moment. I've never had to crank it at all. I suppose at least it's there, in case I ever do.

800 Watts is a lot of power. But if you need it, you have it.

That's true. Since I only have an 8 ohm cab, I'm running it at 400 watts, anyway. That's not exactly anything to sneeze at, either. All I'd have to do is add another cab, then I'd really be cooking, especially if it were another 4 x 10" cab, or something like that.

Oddly enough, if Fender never jacked the price up on their Rumble 500 combo when they did a few years ago, I would have bought that, when I first tried to sell the Orange, but that wouldn't have made me enough money on the side, and that deal fell through anyway. I guess things work out differently then when you originally plan them to, but then that can often lead to a better deal in the long run. I like having the set up I have now, with the head and the cab I have. I'd rather have a 4 x 10" set up, instead of a 2 x 10" one, even though it's not as portable. I think I get more sound coverage with that, without having to add additional cabs.

It's gong to take a while if I do, but I just may do a TX300 in place of the HA2500. I'm up in the air between the two running through the 112b cab. I need to hear a TX300 through the 112b. The TX300, and the 112b were designed to run together. I have plenty of time so I'll see where this road takes me in the future.
I may just go for another HD Combo. Easy to move around the house. HD75 maybe.
