I take it that they all wound up with the same issue, or was it the head that had the problem?

The MB450 head was the one most problem of them all. The combo heads had issues as well. Sounded great, but the quality of the MB Series was garbage.

Yeah, I remember you telling me about that one. That was too bad that they had those issues, since they looked like they had a pretty cool design to them.

The Marshall name was a real let down for me with the MB Series. I expected to have some good experiences with them. That was shot down in short order, with about all of the series. Disappointing to say the least.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They've usually made really good stuff, including solid state amps. I wonder what happened there? I guess whoever they outsourced it to had really screwed up with the QC.

I didn't feel all warm, and good inside with them being manufactured in Vietnam to start with. I believe the issue though, was a design flaw, not as much from manufacturing. Jim Marshall was still around for this one as well. They just blew it on bass amps, one again. Marshall was capable of doing some fine bass amps, and making a serious presents in market place. But they never did.

Do you know if the problem was common with other people who had them, or you think you had bad luck with a lemon? Then again, it was more than one with the issue, though.

I had heard of others having the issue of extremely loud fan motors. The over heating, I don't remember that to be honest with you.

Overheating was the main issue then? Maybe the fan was faulty, or whatever part that is that deals with the heat coming from the amp. I forget the name of that thing. I guess with the Class D stuff, heat isn't much of an issue these days.

Heating I don't think is not too often an issue in class D amps. Not only were the fan motors loud, they revved ay irregular speeds.

Obviously, they weren't functioning properly, especially doing that. I wonder if they were replaced, that would have helped?

Something was controlling the fan motor to act oddly.

I'll bet that was the source of the issue. Maybe it was some sort of batch of parts that were defective, since I'm assuming not every single amp had that issue, but maybe enough to kill off the whole series. That, and maybe it wasn't profitable enough to continue it, as well.

What ever took them down, the MDF didn't help either. The MB Series was a heavy cab, at the time when other brand cabs were getting lighter.

Yeah, that stuff can be quite heavy. The Rumble 350 combo is encased with it, and when they made the 3rd generation combos with plywood, it knocked off pretty much half the weight, I noticed. I suppose the one advantage of it, is that it does seem to resonant bass frequencies very well. I have noticed that. Maybe it has to do with it's density?
