I think I've seen them somewhere for sale, but I could be wrong. This one online shop does have a bunch of replacement parts for various amps, and things like that. I'll have to check again.

I've never really looked for the HyDrive drivers. I just haven't seen them listed any where. It's maybe since they aren't as popular as Eminence are.

I found out where I saw this: https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/537745 ... ydrive-112

You know, I just realized you could put those in any cabinet, probably. I could even get some of those and swap them out in the Fender cab. Then again, all they had there was the replacement 10"s for the XL cab, which was the all aluminum ones, and they cost $110 each. That would meant it would more or less cost the same as buying a Hartke XL cab outright, though.

That's true. I suppose it's cool that they at least offer them to get.

It's better than some items where you can't even order them.

That's true. I suppose if you really wanted a 2 x 12" HyDrive cab, you technically do have the means to make one by getting those replacement drivers.

True, I just don't have the tools it would take to even attempt it.

I'm now kind of wondering if that would work if I could replace two of the speakers in the Fender cab with two of those XL aluminum speakers, or would that sound like crap? Not that I actually probably would, because you could just get one of those 2 x 10" XL cabs for the same price, although it would be confined to one unit, and less crap to haul. I don't know, just throwing out ideas for the hell of it. I suppose there isn't much practical purpose to getting those speakers, unless you want to replace one that blew in one of those cabs in the first place.

I see what you're saying. It's almost damn if you do, damn if you don't scenario. The thought of, just purchase a cab with the two HyDrive drivers already in it, does seem to be a bit more logical overall. The drivers do an exemplary job in the cab that they are designed for, cuts out maybe wasted time, effort, cash, and the possibility of creating a crappy cab like I did in the past. Not to mention a warranty that goes with a new cab. Even though in most cases, isn't needed with a decent manufactured cab in the first place. My own old Roadie opinion, Hartke does manufacture quality cabs.

Yeah, they seem to do that rather well. The only downsides would be the extra weight of the XL cabs, for the 4 x 10" version, and the cost of the HyDrive versions, at least with the 15" and 4 x 10" versions.

That would take some judging the pros, and cons of them all. I'd say you're in good shape with your gear now, and ready to PLAY!

That's true, I do have a really decent rig at my disposal. No complaints there, at least not yet, since I haven't done any gigs yet with it, but liked what I've heard in the house. I like the sound of the Ampeg over the Orange, and I've gigged with the Orange, using the same Fender cab, so I'm sure I shouldn't have any problems with it, hopefully. Sure, those Hartke speakers would be a nice addition, but if that doesn't happen, then it's still cool. 8)

I have to say, I thought you really did a fine purchase on the Ampeg to go with the Fender cab. There's plenty of power to go around, and in an easy to transport size head, being the PH-800.

If you're like me, a Hartke head, or cab was not the first amp name I thought to consider first. Now, Hartke is the first in my thought process for whatever, even though I'm not acquiring anything in amps. No GAS here, believe it, or not. Image

Well, you do have the elements that you've typically liked for your sound. You got your 12" speaker, which you've mentioned having a preference for, and the HyDrive variant seems to be a bonus with that, and you do have a tube preamp with the Hartke head, which more or less covers the tube tone aspects of it, which you've also liked from time to time. You also have an extensive EQ system there, so you do have some room to dial in your sound. You also have 250 watts, which should be sufficient for the room you're in, and then some. I probably could even get away with that, especially with the 4 x 10" cab, but I really don't know what sort of situations I'll be in with whatever gigs that might come my way, so it's best I have what I have, and just adjust the volume knob accordingly.

Who knows, maybe you've finally found you're ideal amp?
