50 Years. Damn! 1969 Was my awakening to real life. It was definitely my time to be. I now do believe God was looking out for me, cause no angel could do for me what he did.

Yeah, I believe so.

I was wondering the other day, what would've been, or not been if Fender hadn't taken over Sunn? Was it their main intention to get to the Sunn 300?

I don't know. There's a chance they'd still be around, if they had something to compete in the market with, or they could have wound up being like a house brand for Guitar Center, like Acoustic did. I remember the guy that originally made the Sunn amps, Conrad Sundholm, was making amps again on his own, but I don't know what happened to him. His website has been gone for a long time now. It's a shame they did let it go defunct in 2002.

I knew about Conrad making lead amps I think, on his own again. But not too much more than that. Age wise, both of the Sundholm brothers must be getting up there in age. The whole Sunn story seems to have ended up in a tragedy, or a comedy of errors put to death by Fender.

Yeah, I found that he had a personal Facebook page, but other than an updated profile pic from 2018, he hasn't posted anything since 2016. I think he's around 80 years old. I guess unless Fender sells and someone buys Sunn, then it's relegated to history. People still buy the old ones here and there, if they are on the market and still run.

Speaking of the past, I actually found a recording of Canned Heat from 1967, when Mark Andes was on bass. This must have been before they put out their first album.

Right after Mark left Canned Heat, He and a couple of others stated Spirit. Another interesting band from the late 60's that had more talent than most realized at the time. Iron Butterfly as well.

He also played bass in Heart, starting from the mid to late 80's, to the early 90's, when they became commercially popular, or I suppose commercial sounding. Not exactly the same style as Spirit or Canned Heat, but I suppose it paid the bills.

Mark was able to adapt, and was, and is able to write some good songs.

I think he might be doing session work these days, I'm not exactly sure, or he could be playing in another band.

Yeah, that's true. At least he's still alive. It seems a lot of those musicians who were around in the 60's are dropping off left and right. :(

Most have a couple, or a few years on me, and I'm 67 today. I never thought I'd make past 20 in 1972. At least I have the gear I like.

Considering you were in Vietnam, I'd say you are a survivor. Gear certainly has come along way since then, I'm sure, as well.

You are so right about gear coming a way in 50 years.
