I guess if you can make it through that, then I imagine you don't sweat the small stuff that comes along the way. The one interesting thing that I've noticed about you, and the few other dudes that I've met that were over there, is that you all are the most laid back people I've known, despite the horrendous $@!& you've must have been through. It's like "yeah, $@!& it, pass a joint, and open a beer."

About the only way to get through that, was to treat it as just what it was. A killing ground. Not a carnival, not to advertise you were there with smell of cigarettes, after shave, and weed. Other than the M-60, the M-14 was the big dog wherever I carried it.

It did help to get a better grip on reality, and what has this odd word in today's world, PRIORITIES.

You basically had the same mindset as the people that you were going against. The thing about them, is they've been fighting off what they saw as invaders for many years even before that, with the Japanese and the French colonists, then after the US, there was the Chinese and I think Cambodia. When you go up against something like that, you'd better have, like you said, priorities together. Otherwise, you aren't going to make it.

I tried to blend into the environment as much as I could. Yes, I guess you could say, I mirrored the VC, I was there to destroy.

And now you can go there and go shopping, and sing karaoke. It's a totally different place than back then, from what I've seen. I guess capitalism won out in the end, since like they say, money talks...

They should've realized that sooner.

Yeah, really. Maybe your life would have taken a different path. If you never went over there, what do you think you would have done? You think you still would done the same thing you did, other than having to deal with all of that crap?

You know Paul, I honest to God don't know. I just kinda' "rolled with the changes". At times you don't always have control of your life. That's when reality really kicks in.

That's true, and sometimes decisions you've made when you were younger can come back around and bite you on the arse. I guess the thing is you didn't have much of a choice being drafted, other than going to jail or Canada, from what I've heard about that. I guess if you were 4-F, then you'd get out of it that, way, but then what happens to you if that's the case, nothing?

Nothing. 4F has classifications like medical conditions etc., and other classifications.

Add another bass that plays well with the Markbass. The Epi Viola blended right in with it. The Combo settings were fine, so just the adjustments on the Viola tuned it in.

You didn't have the Epiphone when you got the Markbass, didn't you? You had the Rumble 800, and the Ampeg 4 x 10", didn't you?

Yes paul. You have a younger, better memory than I do any more. I didn't have the Markbass at that time.

Did anyone buy the Rumble 800, or is it still there? You were saying the 4 x 10" cab was still there, but I've noticed (at least with my experience) cabs are harder to sell than heads are. Then again, it took a long time to get rid of the Orange head.

Cabs do seem to be a tough one to move.
