Yeah,......... the HLF is the hardest part to get in the room. The Rumble 800 comes with a carry bag, a Speakon cord, and a foot switch also.

This pic shows the settings I have it set at. The Vintage button is depressed also. That's a hard one to see in the pic. This Rumble is a fantastic amp. I do like it so much better than the Bassman 800 head. I did have a Bassman 800 head playing through an SVT-410HLF, not that long ago.

I remember when you did have that Bassman 800/Ampeg rig. It looks like you do have some tonal options available with this head. You mess with the overdrive channel at all?

Not yet, the Vintage Channel is putting out the massive lows that I really like. I'm not discounting the HLF's ability to put out the lows as well. I have to admit, the 212AV configuration, I don't think is capable to do what the HLF can do.

You probably have more speaker surface area with the 10"s, and it does have that front end porting that looks like it means business.

The back panel design I think also works well to move the air. Like you stated, 40 inches of surface area, the three ports below the speakers, gives good air flow, and lifts the speakers up three, to four inches above the floor.

I got in just over an hour of playing time today. Maybe it's just in my head, but I swear I think the Rumble 800 sounds a bit lower in tone than the Bassman 800 did. I don't know. I have added the Player Jazz to the mix as well. Like I keep saying, those Alnico V pups are great pups.

It sounds like that cab does move some air. Do you mean the Rumble 800 has more low end to it than the Bassman 800 did?

To me, it seems that way. I acquired an EPI EB-3 Cherry Bass. A beautiful long scale, with my all time favorite shaped body. Kind of a nice Rosewood board on it too.
It has to be the most powerful, loudest bass I've ever played in my gear. The Humbuckings with their double wrapped Alnico magnets, going through the 800 / HLF, totally blew me away. A damn Giant of a bass for $399.

Maybe the Rumble has a different EQ voicing on it?

That's a very cool bass. 8) I've never had an opportunity to play one, though. Just the EB-0 version.

I was liking the direction Fender was moving Rumble along. Then when I saw the Rumble 800 HD, I started doing some nosing around, looking into the applications. This was one of the main reasons I swapped out the 212AV, for the 410HLF. It was in the back of my mind to setup the Rumble 800 HD with the Ampeg SVT-410HLF.
I do believe the Rumble has more sounds I prefer, than the Bassman.

I know it's about $1,100. less than the SG Std., but I really like the long scale, with the SG body style. I can honestly say, even if Gibson did ever come out with the EB-3L version again, I would stay with this Epi EB-3 I have now. It's the way I like the Fender Player Jazz over the Am. Pro Jazz.

Both the EB-3, and the Player are using Alnico magnets in the pups. This damn Epi is an absolute Monster through the Rumble / Ampeg.

Even though I have, and am happy with the Ampeg (knock on wood that nothing goes wrong,) I'm glad that they finally put out the Rumble 800, and especially the fact it can go to 2 ohms. That might not seem like a big deal, or even necessary, but it definitely opens up all possibilities and options, as far as cabs go, at least.

That's not too bad of a deal, if it plays as nice as it does. Apparently, Epiphone has pretty good quality control to them. There's one Epiphone bass that I've especially had GAS over from time to time, because it's a semi-hollow body, and that's the Jack Casady model.

I did actually have a chance to play on one, albeit very briefly when I was leaving a music shop in Tampa, Florida back in the 90's. I don't think it was too long after that model even first came out. Unfortunately, I didn't have much of a chance to play around with it, or even plug it in, but it did leave an impression on me. I never saw one again, unless it was online, though. Then again, I haven't exactly been frequenting a lot of music stores over the years.

There does seem to be a well thought out design to the Rumble 800 HD. In my case, I kinda' realized it was a good way to go. And I had the Bassman that could be returned for it.

The Jack Cassidy Epi is one fine bass. That would be my choice if I were going to play a hollow body. Epi just seems to turn out basses Gibson should. I thinkin' Epi has won me over.

I think it certainly raised the bar for that type of bass head. I think some other companies have or are starting to feature the 2 ohm option, as well.

I've heard that about Epiphone. You know, Jack Casady actually uses stock models of that bass, like he'll pick up some from a shop and use them on the road. His aren't special custom jobs, from what I've read coming from him. I'm sure he has a bass tech that has everything set up for him beforehand, though. He probably can still afford road crew, instead of having to do all of that crap himself. He does use Dean Markley Blue Steel roundwounds, which I don't know if they come stock on the other Epiphone models, or not. When I wrote to Gibson, they told me they put D'Addario strings on their basses. I don't know if that applies to the Epiphone stuff or not. Did they have D'Addario strings on your EB-3? I know it's easy to tell by the color coded ends on them, that's how also I know they're on Ibanez basses.

My Epi had red silk, brass balls, rounds. I'm not sure what the metal of the strings. It's very possible D'Addario may use brass balls on other strings they manufacture for other companies. I don't know.
