That's the weird thing about playing guitar in that type of situation, you don't have the low end backing you when you do.

I mean, you don't have those lower frequencies backing you up when you play guitar in a live situation. It's like there's something almost missing. I suppose if you're a guitarist, that wouldn't bother you at all.

You somewhat hear it, but you don't. You know it's there.

A presence, I suppose. Oh by the way, Gibson just got back to me, and they said they use D'Addario strings on their basses. You know, I might wind up trying those out, since they are widely available, and they make strings for all kinds of string instruments, which is cool. I know you like them a lot.

I think they do a damn good string.

Well, the one thing I have definitely noticed about them, is it seems that they have wide distribution. You don't have to have to order them from some random, oddball site somewhere, if you don't want to. Not to knock anyone from running a business, though. That, and you don't have to order them from a place you'd rather avoid doing business with. I have several products from Planet Waves, which they own, like straps, cables, and a capo, and liked them quite a bit, so why not try them out, as well? Although, I did have one of those Planet Waves cables crap out on me shortly after I got it, and really didn't use it much, so I might be on the fence with that. Then again, lemons do happen, and the other ones from them seem to still be working, when ever I've used them.

On instrument cables, I've a good run with Samson TourTech. Reasonably priced, and they seem to hold up well. I like the old style 90 degree jack on one end for into the bass, and the straight jack for into the amp.

D'Addario seems to offer a pretty wide range of string options on the shelf of some shops.

The SB back on the SVT-212AV. Two or more speakers seems to do a better, more clear sound overall. The 115 puts out like crazy, but the 2X12 just does sound better here where I play, in this 11'X13' size bedroom. The 1X15 sounds better in a bigger room, like the bass showroom area at the store. The SB does fine with either size cab. Just for kicks, the SVT-212AV dimensions are, 24" wide, 25" high, and 16" deep. Weighing in at 66 pounds.

I remember you talking about those Samson cables a long time ago. I've been thinking about the D'Addario, especially because of the availability. They certainly do have a lot to offer.

That's interesting. Were you having a similar issue like when I had the 18" speaker?

It does seem that way Paul. The 115 did sound great, more in the larger room at SA, than at home in my playing room. And that's where I'm playing these days, so back from the shadows again. I gave the HD115 a month, and then realized the room wasn't allowing the sounds to disperse enough. So I went back to the SVT-212AV. At least in the room here, multiple speaker cabs do seem to put out a more preferred sound for me anyway. There's a bit of tone separation from two or more speakers.

Well, I suppose that can happen. As much as I wanted the 18" speaker to work out, I had issues because of the various rooms I played it in. I know you've always had a preference for 12" speakers, anyhow. Maybe those would be best for you.
