Very good. It sounds like you have a handle on things.

I changed my mind about using it to record, and went with the MXR bass preamp, simply because of space considerations, and we are having some issues with the main recording computer, and had to use the backup one. In other words, we got a bit of a clusterf**k going on. :(

Another issue I had was with my short scale Ibanez bass. It has some serious fret buzz, and it was interfering with recording. I had to switch to my girlfriend's Ibanez CT series bass, which was fixed up last year, so I had to adapt to that. It's long scale, and has rounds on it, which I haven't dealt with in a long time. Luckily, the neck on it's thin, so I did OK, after warming up a bit. It's actually a nice bass. I don't know what to do about the short scale, since the action on it is very low (thus, the buzzing,) and I raised the strings as high as I could.

Buzzing can be an issue when recording, that's for sure. I'm not advising, or anything like that, but I didn't have recording studio issues with Nylons. And I played a 4003 in a couple of those. A Fender Fretless Jazz worked well also. I'll give the devil his do, I've never had a recording problem when I played a Fender Jazz.

It's weird, I didn't have this issue when I first got the bass, before I put flats on it. It could be the weather around here screwing with it, but that hasn't happened with my long scale basses, as far as fret buzz like that is concerned.

It almost sounds like the shorty needs a reset with the flats onboard. Are the flats much larger in gauge?

Well, they are actually light gauge, maybe even lighter than what came with the bass. Dunlop flats .40 to .100 gauge.

I've only used medium gauge, .50. and up.

Now that I have a Fender sounding head playing through the Ampeg, I just may do a Rumble 800 head to have around.

You're thinking about getting the new Rumble 800 head?

Possibly in the future to have as the Bassman 800 backup.

Like maybe tomorrow as my # one 800 watts head.

Well, that should be interesting. I've been curious about that one.

They are showing them in stock at SA.com. I can't afford to order the one showing on line. I have to return the BM800 first, then order the R800.

I know what you mean about that. I've had to sell something to get something else many times.

I could have ordered it Sunday night on line, but I didn't want to complicate things with a return for the funds to back up the order. This Rumble looks like the way to go with the SVT-410HLF for the 800 watts, @ 4 ohms. This really is a great bass head.
