That's a thought, too.

Looking at it that you already have 410's, two more may not be as dynamic as a 15" would be. Hartke, Eminence, what ever.

That's true, although I've never even played though, or even seen a Hartke 15" in person, oddly enough. I've just played through the 4 x 10" version, which I did like quite a bit. The 15" would be a different dynamic, like you've said.

I had the Kick Back 15" Combo. It was good. I do believe the HyDrive 15" speaker sounds better at higher volumes, more than I was able to do with it. Just the speaker a lone in a cab, may serve you purposes better than mine.

That's the thing with those bigger speakers, like when I had the 18" cab, they may not function or sound as well with lower volumes. That was very problematic with me, unfortunately. That's why I went with the 4 x 10" cab, because it worked better for low and higher volumes, especially in that rehearsal space, as well.

I'm not having the low volume sensitivities with the Fender Bassman 115 NEO. For what ever reason it's sounding great at any volume.

Maybe it just depends on the speaker, as well? Also, maybe the amp and even the bass, itself comes into play? I've also noticed that AMS only has the 2 x 10" and 4 x 10" XL cabs available, other than those HyDrive cabs, which I'm not too interested in (higher cost is also a factor,) and Guitar Center seems to have none, other than used. Sam Ash only has the HyDrive, as well. I wonder if they're going to phase them out, or it's just what those stores are carrying? I did look on the Hartke site, and they still have all of the XL cabs there, including the 15" version. Anyway, it's just an idea, so it's like it's nothing that was set in stone in the first place.

Edit: I checked again, and it said the 15" might not be available in every country, which the 10" speaker cabs do not say, with the exception of that one cab that had the center 5" speaker. Perhaps, they aren't available new in the US, anymore? Either that, or not online with the big wig shops.

It's a guessing game sometimes about what's available, out of stock, or discontinued.

Who knows? Other than Jack Bruce on video, I've never seen the 15" aluminum cab in action, and he was also using the 4 x 10" cabs, which are usually the most common from that series, it seemed. I remember back in the 90's, probably into the early 2000's they also made a 2 x 15" aluminum cab, as well as an 8 x 10" one. Then they came out with the paper cone cabs, which I've read were problematic with crappy speakers, although I did play through a 4 x 10" paper cone cab with a Hartke HA3500 head in that music shop that I got the Peavey bass in, and it sounded pretty decent. I didn't have it doing some live gig volume, but it wasn't quiet, either. I had actually thought about that rig, before Fender had come out with the 2nd Generation Rumble Series, which I wound up with that 350 combo. Those heads were pretty decent for the time, I think. They might still make them, but I know everyone is pretty much on the Class D bandwagon these days.

It can be seen in the avatars as well.

Speaking of Hartke again, I found this demo video of one of those LH1000 heads through that 210XL cab that I was talking about before. The guy was playing a Precision Bass with a Jazz bridge pickup, and I have to say that set up sounded pretty damned good.

Obviously, that cab wouldn't be enough on it's own, unless you're doing something relatively lower volume, but at least I have a general sonic idea, with that amp, as well. I know it's an older, Class A design, instead of Class D, so it has the extra weight to it, but it has a similar set up to my Orange, but with more options for speakers, since it's two channel, with a bridge option, which I'd have to use, because you'd just get a fraction of the power with just two 8 ohm cabs.

Apparently, it goes down to 2 ohms for each channel, but the bridge mode only does 4 ohms. The only reason I'm mentioning this, is because I've been looking around for potential replacements for the Orange, if ever needed, that have similar specs, and the price is a bonus. It's $300 cheaper than the Ampeg SVT 7 Pro, which would be helpful in my situation, and I did read a lot of positive reviews on it. I had some bad luck with a Hartke practice amp, but that really wasn't the same thing, anyway, so I shouldn't really judge on that alone.

You know, none of this might not even pan out to anything, and I'm just flapping my gums about some other gear that I'll probably not even get down the road, but it doesn't hurt to see what kind of options that are out there, in case something happens to what you do have.

You're right about it all really. Getting specs, and information on gear can be like it's a secret, or something.

You have some good options to work with there.

Yeah, but for now, I'll have to work with the Orange, and the Fender cab. It's working, though, that's the main thing. I'll eventually see how the Ibanez sounds through that, but for now, we aren't messing with anything live, until before our next show in August, as far as I know. There's recording and video stuff to do, plus promo related to that, so it's not like I'll be sitting around doing nothing.
