Hello all, I purchased this bass amp brand new and is still covered under the 5 years warranty and I plan to take steps on getting it looked at under a warranty. but I am just curious if this is strange. I started playing through the bass the volume was no where near loud or maxed but when I hit certain notes or played lesser notes at a slightly higher volume the speakers sounded blown, but all of them? I turned off the amp, unplug it for a few sec (in hopes to reset any thing strange) and inspected it and didn't notice any burnt smell or anything abnormal. So I chose to turn on the horn and turn the amp on and it gave the same "farting" noise just higher. So that got me thinking, all the speakers including the horn that was off couldn't have all just blown at the same time could they have?
I am fearing that it might be something serious in the electronics. Currently this amp is off, unplugged and will remain that way until Fender looks at it. but I was just checking to see if anyone else as heard of these issues.
Thanks.

I don't suppose you have access to, or own an additional cabinet and see if the noise is coming through that. If it is not, then it's probably the speakers. If it is, then it's probably something with the amp, which could be a number of things that could cause that. If you're still under warranty, as much as a pain in the arse it might be, you're probably better off just having it serviced, or whatever they do with warranty issues these days. I've heard they don't even bother repairing things and just replacing them, but I don't know for certain. My Fender amp lasted and still is working past the warranty on it, so I fortunately never had to find out. Maybe someone else might have an answer for you about this, but those are the two options I'd consider, if it were me.

Two things: 1) listen through headphones to determine it is not the amp, and 2) it is very unlikely that your speakers are blown. Just pull off your grill and re-torque your woofers using a star pattern (just like changing a tire). Snug 'em down on the first go round and tighten (being careful not to strip) evenly on the second go 'round. That should do it.

Thanks Guys, the amp is under warranty so I figured let the pros look at it. Currently this amp is sitting in a Fender authorized repair shop awaiting its fate. I am a guitar player and this amp is really a studio amp and rarely gets gigged with so it as no worries to send it away. If interested I will update the thread when I hear something.

So last week the repair shop called and had explained that the amp ws ready for pick up. I was told that the technician had seen this many times before. It was simply dusty and dirty. I am a little confused i have plenty of amps in my day but none that malfunctioned becuase they were dirty. The tech further explained that a 3yo amp with as many years of build up cause the malfunction in which they simply cleaned all the connections and blew it all out.
I am really relieved that its nothing major, I am still purplexed by the diagnosis since i pamper all my equipment but relieved.

That's good to know that it wasn't something more serious than that.

Good News! The cleaning required a disassembly of all the major components and then the the reassembly would have snugged everything up especially the woofers. KUDOS!
