Hello,

My old band collapsed and for a new project I’ll need a combo very lightweight (I will need to travel a lot across town using public transportation)

So I’m looking at the Rumble V3 range.
I don’t need a lot of power, I’m considering the 100 v3 and the 200 v3

On the pure power aspect they are quite similar (100w for the 100, 140 for the 200 without extension cab). The main differences seem to be :

- 12"  for the 100 vs 15" for the 200 both are 8 ohms
- External cab capability for the 200 (no external cab capability for the 100)

First question :
Is this analysis correct ?

Second question
In Europe (I live in France) the price gap between both is quite huge : 315euros for the 100 a little bit less than the double for the 200 (520 euros)

Considering that , reading this forum and Talkbass Rumble Club both are considered to sound great, 200 euros for an external jack seems a little bit…. let’s say expansive

Is there a known and safe modification for the 100 v3 that adds a jack for an external cab in case ?

Thanks in advance

Luc

Yes, any good amp tech can add a output jack wich it disconnect internal speaker when you plug a external cab.
It need to make a hole in the wood cabinet in back of the amp

I'm gonna disagree with stratle52 this time.
While you can install an external jack, the Rumble amps that I have opened up are bridged pwm output with no ground connection.
This sets up a shock and smoke scene if something gets connected to ground.
The pwm amps are generally set up to run at max power with the combo impedance. Adding a second speaker is a recipe for overload failure.
In general, I only add ext jacks for tube amps. If your SS amp doesn't have one, its for a good reason. Its probably bridged with no ground.
Even some that do have problems. The SWR California Blonde comes with an ext jack. But if you try to use the ext speaker made for the amp at gig levels, it starts shutting down after an hour or so.
The 200 is probably designed to put out 200w with the ext cab connected. The 100 has no such headroom for the extra speaker.
Maybe a French crowd is quiet and polite, but in America, a 100 watt bass amp will disappear in a crowd. 200 is a minimum to gets buts moving. At 350 they can't argue and have to move with the music.
I know it's not my money, but I would consider weight over cost. You will forget how much it cost, but you will have to carry it around until you sell it.
