How true about not having that many choices.

Yeah, now it's not the case anymore.

There really is a good variety these days, for both power and physical size. Not to mention features on the head to choose from. The GK MB Fusion 500 is working ok for my 2X12 cab.

It's a good set up for me. Too many choices......... 500 watts is more than I really need, but why not.

It's better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

That's the way I've always looked at it too. My cab tops out at 4 ohms, 600 watts, and I don't like exceeding the wattage on a cab any way.

I believe I have a total 1000 watts with both of my cabs (600 for the 18" and I do believe 400 for the 2x10" or maybe even 500.) Even if I didn't, I don't think I'd ever realistically crank it loud enough to full bore, anyway. I suppose anything is possible, though. :P

I'm working with a 4 ohm cab, and a 4 ohm head. So no adding cabs for me.

You probably don't need to, anyhow. If I didn't get the 18" speaker, I might not haven't needed to get the 10"s, but at the same time I love the bottom end I get from it. The problem was it sounded really good loud, which was too much for the room I'm in, but problematic at lower volumes.

An 18 isn't exactly a lower volume choice. But great for those blow your doors in sounds!

Yeah, and you can really feel that bass, too. 8)

18's Don't even breathe hard at higher volumes. I gotta' tell ya' though, the Eminence 12's in the SVT-212AV have such deep rich sound. But I'm not doing high volumes, like you may be doing.
The GK is a nasty little thing too. It doesn't hurt to have the three 12AX7 tubes in the Preamp either.

I'd actually like to have a combination of 12"s and 18"s, if that were possible. I'd like that over the 10"s.

That sounds interesting with 12's, and an 18. I'm glad to be back using 12's, over 10's myself. 8)
