Things could get really intense, to say the least. When you're dealing with a larger caliber cartridge, being more selective of your targets, and during more when needed. With an M16, spray, and pray was the kid's way. With a M14, ammo was more precious than rations were.

There is a Rumble 800 on its way. They should be available in March. I thought I saw the price at $600.00. It has a 8, 4, and 2 ohm switch on the back. At 8 ohms it's at 400 watts. 4, And 2 ohms are at 800 watts. The 4, and 2 ohms settings are together on the switch, and the 8 ohms setting is by itself on the switch. The Rumble 800 has the magnets to attach to another Rumble cab, and the amp's outer case is more rounded without cornered edges.

Oh yeah, I was going to mention that. I found out about that one yesterday. You remember me asking for that since friggin' 2013? It just figures that they finally put one out, right after I finally get the Ampeg PF-800. Ain't that a kick in the balls. A little too late, Fender. :P

YEP!!! Fender always does something too late for me as well. I've heard a rumor that a Rumble 2X12 cab is on the horizon as well. Too late for my gear as well. I've got the Ampeg all around. Fender lost me on this one, cause no way I'm flippin' what I'm using now.

Your Ampeg PF800 is a real quality, Yamaha backed head. I think you did a great deal on the 800 watt head.

I know, but it's still damned annoying. :P I don't know how many times I've mentioned something about them making that amp. I even found an old post from my old account from 2013 that I started about that as a topic. I thought about grave digging it, but that would have been kind of weird to respond to an old account of myself, that's been deleted. The only thing left is the old posts. They used to delete everything way back in the day if you deleted your account here, including your posts. I've had a few since this one, going back to probably 2007, but I wasn't as active at all with those.

Anyway, getting back to the Rumble 800, that's cool that it can go to 2 ohms. That's a good bonus for it's part, at least. It wouldn't shock me if the do put out a 2 x 12" cab, either.

Yeah,......... Great! You had to say the 2X12 cab. HA HA. I know what you mean. But I do really like the Ampeg SVT-212AV. The thing that's more suited for me with that anyway is, it's a 600 watts, 4 ohm cab. Of course with the tube head, 100 watts is what it is at any impedance. At least if I ever do run a 500 watt SS head, I'll get the full 500 watts out of it. I won't go over a cab's rated Peak power level.

My Fender cab is 1000 watts program, and 500 watts continuous, which is well covered at 8 ohms, since the Ampeg is 400 watts into 8 ohms. I could totally dime the thing without any worries. I did notice the Portaflex 15" cab is also 400 watts RMS and 8 ohms, which matches up with that head. I looked up the Portaflex 4 x 10" cab, and it's 800 watts RMS, according to specs. It also weight about an extra 11 pounds, according to the specs on both. There's always that to factor in, especially if you have to move it around a lot.

With that Rumble 800, I found one listed at Sweetwater, so far. They have it priced for $599.99, which is the same as the Ampeg PF-800, and it looks like it's also 400 watts into 8 ohms. I will say again that the fact that it goes down to 2 ohms is quite a bonus feature. That's something that is quite handy if you want to use multiple cabs, or have a 4 ohm and 8 ohm cab, like I originally did with the Carvins, and had to swap it out for an 8 ohm speaker.

Between the two 800 heads, it really comes down to personal preference of what is most important on the design offered in the two.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my Ampeg, but I suppose it's good to know that they finally have that option available. I also have always liked the way my Rumble combo sounded. More options aren't a bad thing, even if you don't need them.

That's the best way to have it.

Yeah, I just hope I don't have any issues with my Ampeg, like people did in the past. I understood that it was dealt with, though. If it does blow up, or whatever (I certainly hope not,) at least there is that Fender option, finally to consider. Who knows, maybe somehow I might have the means to even pick one up besides that, down the road. Who says you can't have more than one amp? At least I have the cab to match it. :P

The PF500 I believe was the problem child in the bunch. Somewhat the way the Bassman 500 had issues earlier, that are no longer a problem. From what I hear, the PF500 is a solid running amp these days also.
I may get a PF500 as a back up in case I need to have the V-4B in the shop for tube changing, and to rebias the head. The only other potion would be to acquire a Fender 100T, or one of the Ampeg, or Fender 300 Watt tube heads that has a bias setting onboard. But as we know, Money, Money, Money, Money, Money!

Or I may decide to in place of paying out for a PF500, set aside the amount needed for that, and use the V-4B together for a Fender 100T with the Auto Bias on it.

You thinking about jumping back to a Fender amp then?

No, not yet. I'm just keeping my options open. It is one thing though, the V-4B is incapable of doing, biasing power tubes. The only Ampegs that have tube bias controls, are the more expensive 300 Watt heads. One is $1,800., the price of a Super Bassman, and the others are $2,000. Buckaroos, and up.
