That sounds like you have a formidable rig, then. 8) Yeah, I think the fact that you were able to get your hands on it again might mean it was meant to be. I can also tell that cab is designed to push some air, as well. Maybe I should get one, so I can match my head up. :P My Fender does alright, although that Portaflex cab is pretty neat, I think. I like how you can attach it like that.

I would think a Portaflex cab would match up fine with the PF800. Did you find out if the PF800 will fit into a flip cab? The only negative for you using a 410HLF, it weighs 85 pounds. So it's not the most mobile cab to get around.
I did a little adjustments on the 800 today, with the 4003 running through it. It definitely has a sound I prefer over the Hartke setup. This 4003 I have now really does have a deeper sound, and going through the 800 / SVT it has a sound that won't quit.

Yeah, I've seen videos from Ampeg that show them attaching the PF-800 to the cab top and flipping it. The funny thing is my Fender cab has these round indention things in them so you can fit a Rumble head into it, which I think might have magnetic feet on them, but I could be wrong. The Ampeg's feet are a lot further apart, so they don't fit into those.

85 pounds is an extra 22.5 pounds more than the Rumble 4 x 10", according to the specs. That's something I don't know if I'd want to mess with, since the Rumble can be a little rough to hump up a staircase, or whatever without any help. Still, it's lighter than an SVT 8 x 10" cab. :P Oh by the way, I just found out that the Rumble cab does have Eminence speakers in them. I just saw that in the specs, as well. 8)

I'll bet that Ric does sound amazing through that rig. It's funny how a lot of people associate those basses with a twangy sound, because of Chris Squire, but you can get a deep tone with them, as well. Especially, with flats or nylons. All you have to do is listen to Paul McCartney play one on those Beatles recordings to hear that.

At first the Ric did have the twangy sound, But that's what the controls are for, on both the amp, and the bass. I tunes it in, and it sounds great.

Not only the 85 pounds of the HLF, but it's an old style cab design, much like the Acoustic cabs were. Large, and bulky as hell. It's 30" high, and 19" deep at it's deepest point of the back. It does have a full length pull handle, and 3” Dolly-Style Casters, but it's not stairs friendly at all.

Both the Rumble 410, and the HLF have Eminence speakers in them. Just maybe made for Fender / Ampeg specs. Other than that, Eminence. For all we know, they could be the same Eminence series 10's in both cabs. I would have had to spent $100.00 more for an new Ampeg Heritage HLF to get an American made cab, with USA Eminence in it. $900.00 For that over a new Classic HLF at $800.00 My old HLF is just FINE by me.

There is a magnetic top on the Rumble to accommodate the Rumble heads. The cups on the HLF top, aren't in the right spot for the Bassman to fit in. I don't need it anyway.

I honestly don't even remember how my Ric sounded, since I was a total newb when I got it, and really didn't know much about anything at that point. If I did, I sure as hell would have held on to it.

Yeah, as cool as that cab must sound, that's a bit too much for me to deal with. I have to be realistic about that, and there's also the fact it has to fit in the back of a Honda CRV. It's not exactly some huge van, so I'm limited in that way, as well. I can manage to get the Rumble cab in, besides all of the other stuff.

I imagine Eminence is Eminence, give or take some wattage, and a few ounces of weight, here and there. You know, I think you got a good deal with what you got. I'm not sure the extra $100 would have even been worth it, if it sounds just as good.

I'm in a Toyota Rav4, so you and I are in about the same size cargo space to use. For me, hopefully this HLF is where it's staying. Reality check for me, I'm not transporting it anywhere. Hell, I can't even move it out of the small bedroom size room I use to play my stuff in without taking down a baby gate we use to keep the dog in, or out of at times.
The difference between the Ampeg Classic, and Heritage isn't worth the $100.00, at least in a new cab on the prices between the two cabs. I'm very more than satisfied with my Classic HLF.
The Fender Bassman 800 has me not missing the Super Bassman. It's cool, everything is, as it was. The 4003 was going today, and I didn't need to pull the low bass, on the bass knob. The HLF goes down to 28Hz, and has a Maximum SPL: 125dB. OUCH!

Sounds good. 8) That's the one thing about those big cabs, they're pretty cool if you don't have to move them. It's just when you do, that's what sucks. :P

Yeah,..... that was part of my mind set in getting the beast back again, it's parked in the spot in the room here. It's too much of a hassle to move out of the room even, let alone getting it out to the Rav4 to transport.

A Bassman 800 is going! I found my Ampeg V-4B head. I'm able to return my Bassman 800, for my old V-4B. No charges since both are priced identically. And I bought the Bassman under a week ago.

You have a hand truck to move it? Unfortunately, I don't have one, so I have to move mind old school, and try not to throw my back out in the process. :P Actually, it's not that bad to carry. It could be a lot worse, and it does have wheels on it.

The Bassman 800 wasn't working out for you, then? I wonder how many people have even gotten one of those in the first place?

I don't know. My Bassman 800 sat there untouched for months. The V-4B through the SVT-410H:F sounds more like a 610, or an 810. The tube Ampeg definitely has the deeper, richer, more power sound. I forgot it puts out a sound the pounds. It can be felt. it's been a long time since I had a setup that pounds like this does. ImageImage

That's the thing with those Ampeg tube heads, especially the big boss there, the SVT. I generally don't want to mess with tubes, but it also doesn't mean I wouldn't turn down a chance to play through that thing, and the 8 x 10" cab. I've never done it, and there has to be a reason that they've been on those stages for all of these years. I just wouldn't want to have to be the one who has to haul it around. :P

I'm pleasantly surprised how the head, and cab do match up. Like I may have said before, I don't remember having a V-4B, and an SVT-410HLV at the same time to run them.
With the tube head, 100 watts is 100 watts. On the back of the V-4B, there are impedance jacks to connect the V-4B to a cab, or cabs with the impedance. In my case, I just connect into one of the input jacks for 4 ohms, from the cab. Image

That's cool that is has the old school slave out on it, for back in the day when you hooked up several amps for that wall of sound. That, and the PA was primitive.

100 watts tube isn't exactly a slouch in the volume department, especially in a smaller room. Guitar wise, it's ridiculously loud.
