I think I'm pretty fortunate that both basses do well the same amp settings, and just the bass settings adjusted separately.

How much do you have to adjust between the two?

Very little if any. The 4003 is the more slightly temperamental of the two, with it having the 3-way switch. No big deal though. I usually have the Treble down, and the Bass up. I played the 4003 yesterday with the switch in the center position, using both of the pups, just with the Treble Bridge pup lower than the Bass Neck pup. No where near rocket science. Image

That's good that you don't have to change too much around. Saves a lot of time from having to do a lot of tweaking.

I do like having the amp head set, and just adjust to a different bass if needed. I learned that from being on the road. That's one of the main reasons a player on stage may change out an Axe, either a 6 stringer, or a bass. On stage, the Amp is the base, or foundation. As a show progresses, the Amp is the one constant for guitars, and basses. The Drums, and Keyboards are also as is.

That's a good system to have set up. I haven't decided how I'm going to do with my basses when I gig again, with the Orange set up. I may or may not use both the Ibanez, and the violin bass, I don't know. I still have to see how the Ibanez is going to sound with the Orange, whether I need to use the MXR Preamp, or not. I shouldn't have to, since the pickups on that one are a Precision and Jazz combination, and it's not a hollow body.

Well, if I do, then I'm going to seriously think about dumping that head, once and for all. I don't want to have to use a preamp pedal for a bass amp that supposed to have an EQ section, but that could just be me being nitpicking. Anyway, if I wind up just bringing the Ibanez, I do have a Danelectro Longhorn bass that the guitar player has, that I can borrow for a backup. He brought that along on our last gig. I did play with it a couple of times during rehearsals. It's actually a nice bass, although he could use some new strings on it.

Danelectro basses are somewhat unknown to some. Jack Bruce played them in Cream. I don't know what songs he played them in, but they sure sounded good.

Yeah, they're a pretty decent instrument, especially for the price. I've played on the 6-string variants as well.

I'm going with the Bassman 800 to pair with the Hartke cab after all. At 8 ohms, I'll get 500 watts, and a good Fender sound I like with the Jazz, and the Ric. Image

I have the Bassman 800 on hold for me to pick up on Wednesday from the local Sam Ash. 8)

Cool. 8) That seems like a decent head. If I had the funds, I'd have gotten one, myself.

Yep! I'm getting a pretty good return on the TX600 toward the Bassman. It only was $399., so I really didn't have that much into it. I think it was great for the store manager to take it off the floor, and hold it for me until Wednesday without any type of deposit on it. That was just from me calling him up right after the store open at 10:00 AM this morning. And like I said in the other posting, this was my amp that I returned, and it was just put out on the floor.

Sounds good. 8) That's cool that you were able to get a hold of it, then.

I thought so too. Now I just have to wait until Wednesday to pick it up. Image
