Yeah, I'll bet it was an older model they probably had sitting around for a long time. Well, at least you were able to get that taken care and not stuck with anything. Hopefully, the Hartke will work out for you better. Other than that unfortunate issue, it did seem like a decent amp, with the tone and features.

I know I babble on about amps, and how great they are. But I'm here to tell ya', it worked out to be a good thing that the roads brought me to the Hartke TX600. Beautiful tones with a very simple EQ that works fine. And for it's $400. price tag, It is a wonderful 600 watt head. I've paid more for amps that didn't impress me anywhere near as much as the Hartke. Image

That does sound like a pretty good deal. There's still the Ampeg cab that contributes to the sound. I don't know if the Hartke cabs are just as good, although Jack Bruce did use an all Hartke rig, so I suppose they couldn't be too bad. I've played through those original, aluminum speaker cabs, and I thought they sounded pretty good, but they have the mixed material ones, too. Actually, from what I've read on the Hartke site, Jack was the inspiration for that, since when they did the Cream reunion, he used both types of cabs, with the aluminum speakers, and paper cone ones. So, they came up with those HyDrive speakers after that.

I'm going to be checking out the Hartke HyDrive HD210 cab. I had to move the SVT-410 HLF today, and it was a real pain. The Hartke HyDrive HD210 cab is very workable with the Hartke TX600 head. It's an 8 ohm cab, so if I did go with one, I'd be getting a 450 watts @ 8 ohms with the TX600.
I'll see what happens on Monday.

You'd rather get the 2 x 10" cab instead of a 4 x 10" one?

I would as long as the HyDrive style aluminum cone can put out enough low tone. The Ampeg cab is just too big if I need to move it around in the house. The HD210 should work fine with the TX600 being an 8 ohm cab. I'd still get 450 watts out of the TX600 in a small room in the house. Image

Have it set to do a deal on a Hartke HyDrive HD210 cab, tomorrow.

Sounds good. 8) I looked at the specs on that cab last night, it looks pretty good. I've had so-so results with 2 x 10" cabs, but then again, those were Carvin cabs. They'd get a little farty if you put some volume into them with the low end, but did pretty good with an additional cab, like a 15" or 18" one.

I figure with it being 500 watts peak, and @ 8 ohms the TX600 at 450 watts. It's like you said, it's more than I need.

The TX600 / HD210
It plays well. It only took a few minutes to reset the head for the HD cab.

It looks like a nice set up. As long as it sounds good, that's what counts. 8)

It has a sweet tone to it. The tone range is pretty wide. A good amount of tone choices. The HyDrive aluminum 10" is a pretty dynamic one.

How's the tone compared to the Ampeg?

Just bit more low mid, until I got into setting more lows, than mids or highs. It does have a nice sweet low tone. I can hear some of the tones that were somewhat masked by the Ampeg's low tones of the 410. It really must be the HyDrive aluminum cones that mellow it out without losing any of the low bass tones. WHAT? I think you know what I mean.
I'm very up for this Hartke setup. More compact, and more inline for what I should be playing with. The Ampeg SVT-410HLF id a great cab for an auditorium, or arena, etc. A bedroom size spare room if just a bit to small for that cab.

I know what you mean. I had a lot of trouble with that 18" cab, with the small rooms I used it in for practice. I do like that idea of the aluminum cones, mixed with the paper ones. From what I've heard on videos, they sound pretty decent.
