Yeah, 41 years now. It even had 21 frets instead of the usual 20, so you even get a high E note on it. I imagine if there's any on the market, they won't be cheap.

It's somewhat ironic over the years, of what musical products make it, and the others that don't.

That's true, and there's always something coming along to attempt to make their mark, too.

I always look to some of the amazing amps that came out of the mid, to late 60's. Sure, the guitars, and basses were cool, but the amps really made things happen.

You know, I think the 60's were the benchmark for everything that has come out, in some form or another. It was the nucleus, I think. Sure there was the blues going back to the 20's or 30's, which inspired a lot of the British groups, and the 50's with Elvis and all of that, but it all just blew up in the 60's, especially with related technology, too.

The 50's were just getting to stir things up for the 60's. One of the greatest developments to come out in technology, THE TRANSISTOR! That little electronic device really did change the world.

It certainly did that. It made listening to music a lot more portable, with those transistor radios, and such.

I remember I had a Lloyds transistor radio. It was about 3" square, 1.5 " wide, and ran on a 9 volt battery. That was about 1962, or 1963.

That's pretty cool. I've seen some websites that are all about those kind of radios. A lot of people collect them, I think. The Bakelite radios are probably a lot more valuable, but then again so is anything that's Bakelite in the first place.

I don’t recal that one. I just remember how cool it was having a radio that small.

Do you remember the first time you heard FM Stereo?

I imagine it was a huge difference compared to what AM was, especially if you had the stereo equipment to really hear that. Kind of ironic, when you think of how many people listen to music through crappy iPhone speakers these days with compressed MP3 files. Although, I've seen and heard these Bluetooth portable speakers and they're pretty friggin' cool. They put out some low end and sound pretty decent, but they're pretty small.

At first, it was a challenge getting Stereo Beatles albums, over the Mono ones. The stereo album cost more, but it could be played on the stereo, or mono equipment. Stereo equipment was very expensive, probably because for one thing, there weren't many stereo cuts on the market at that time.

Then there's the debate on which is better, The Beatles in stereo versus mono recordings. I suppose any new technology is going to be more expensive at first.
