Yeah, that would work, or maybe slightly bigger, depending on what I need to haul. I have two cabs and a bass case at minimum. The head I can carry over my shoulder, so no worries about that one. I think the combined weight of both cabs is probably around 100 pounds. I don't remember off the top of my head about the 2 x 10" cab, but the 18" cab was 56 pounds, but that was before I put in the Celestion. I'm not sure if that weighs more or less than the original speaker. I know it's not a Neo, at least. I think it's probably the around the same, though. I also think, or pretty sure the 2 x 10" was lighter than that. It's a little smaller than the 18" cab, at least. I'd have to hunt down the specs over at the Carvin site, if they still have it.

I'm not worried about moving mine, but the Bassman 500 is 17 pounds, and the 115 Neo is 45 pounds. The Bassman 500 comes with a cover.

That's not bad at all. It's only 6 pounds heavier than my Orange head, but it's also in a bigger wood enclosure, and mine is basically like a metal lunch box. I went ahead and looked at the specs of my 2 x 10" cab and they say it's 49 pounds. The 18" was 59 pounds (I looked at the specs for that, although a bit of a search, since they don't make them anymore,) or it was with the original speaker in it. Altogether, my rig is 119 pounds, sans the speaker cables, which probably add a couple extra pounds, since they are 10 feet long, and 14 gauge size. Sans the amp, which I would carry in it's bag, it's 108 pounds. So that would be the minimum weight of what I'd be using a cart for.

One of those 150 pound folding hand trucks would be handy for that.

Oh yeah, like I was saying, it would make loading in and out a hell of a lot easier.

If you don't have a road crew, then you'd want to make it as easy as you can, I'd think. That's why I'm thankful they make such lightweight gear these days. Plus the fact I'm not 20 years old and oblivious to the potential "fun" of hauling a 165 pound refrigerator-sized cab up a flight of stairs or two. :P It was bad enough when I had to do that with the Rumble 350 at the radio show back in early 2016. At least I'm in a hell of a lot better shape now to do that and not kill myself in the process.

You catch on fast. The lighter weight that works as well as the heavier, wins. A price tag can be a deal breaker at times though.

Yeah, there's always the price to factor in, especially when you might be broke. That was another thing that I liked about my Rumble 350 combo, it's price per power and features ratio was probably the best at that time. It really was before everyone and their sibling was putting out Class D heads, and really there wasn't and still isn't that many combos like that out, especially at that price point, unless I'm missing something. I don't think anyone had a $500 combo that was 400 watts, not even Hartke. I guess there was used gear, but I've typically tried to avoid that. I know now you have Ampeg and Hartke competing in that price range, and all of that business, though.

For me it worked out to liking the head / cab combination. I don't worry, or think about moving the gear for jobs, like you need to be concerned with though. Ironic after all these years, a Fender Bassman half stack, with a 15" Neo has me set. I'm not yaking, or complaining either. I know there's performing players using less than what I have on their jobs.

I was looking at some Fender amps from the early 70's, when they came out with the big monsters (400 PS Bass, Super Six Reverb, etc.) and I think these amps are just as cool, but obviously different in that they aren't as heavy, or expensive to buy or maintain. Whether or not they'd have the longevity to last over 40 years will still remain to be seen, since we more or less now live in a disposable society, unfortunately. I have a TV from the 90's that is starting to go on the picture, so when it finally does, you know where that's going to end up, unless they can recycle it somehow. I don't think there is such a thing as a TV repair shop anymore, and with the cost of even repairing it, you could get a modern one for less money. I guess it applies to amps, as well, unless it's one of those old tube ones, which ironically are more expensive, considering it's 100 year old technology.

It's kinda' funny in a way, looking back on Amps, that were out, with the ones that made it in the market place, and for what ever reason, the ones that didn't. I believe that some brands had a stigma attached to them from past amps, for maybe being labeled as to expensive, like the Fender Bassman series of the time. That could've stuck with other Fender amps, and potential players may not have even looked at the Fender offerings of amps. Also, a lot of players were swayed by what other big bands used for their gear. Ampeg really came out swinging in about 1969 with the SVT amp heads, and cabs for example. Sunn was in the mix too. One of my favorite amps also was, KUSTOM!

I suppose it also depends on how well things are marketed and advertised, too. The one thing I've noticed with Fender, is they tend to promote their guitar amps more than the bass ones, or that just could be my perception. The guitar stuff is at least three to four times more than the bass stuff. At least they aren't the redheaded stepchild like Gibson basses are, though. :P

I think the fact the Rolling Stones used the Ampeg SVT amps, right when they came out, on some huge tour, probably helped that a lot. Plus, that was a lot of power, too.

Kustoms were pretty cool amps, that for sure.

Definitely having the Stones use what ever Ampeg had available at that time worked. They almost fried some of the Prototype heads, because there weren't enough from the production lines at the time, and they pushed them so hard on stage.

From what I've read, they actually had the Ampeg technicians go with them on tour to work out any bugs, or deal with all of the bits and pieces, being they were prototypes, like you said.
