It is that. I suppose sooner or later, I suspect that whole thing is going to hit a wall, with Guitar Center, and all of that.

Amazing how GC is still around.

I've seen their commercials before Christmas and all of that, for whatever sales they are doing. Who knows how long they will be around, like that's been said. My girlfriend refuses to do business with them, which is understandable, considering the way they've acted towards her the last time she even went in there several years ago, like she was just my hanger on girlfriend, and I was just the customer. Usual sexist musician bull crap. Sam Ash never did that, at least in White Plains, New York, but we haven't been there since probably 2005. It's a bit of a haul from here, but we were doing a gig in NYC, and staying at her mom's place nearby. I have to say, I don't blame her for being pissed about that. Imagine if that was done to you, I don't think it would sit too well. It certainly wouldn't with me.

GC can piss me off just by me walking in the place, at times. I totally understand her feeling that way towards them. They like to act like you're not there at all.

There was a parody video making fun of Guitar Center for that reason. I think it might have been posted on here a long time ago, or maybe I might have posted it, but I'm not certain. It was pretty spot on, though.

It's kind of pathetic that there's a lot of truth to that video.

Yeah,..... most of the floor reps there don't go out of their way. And If they do, some need a swift kick to get them going.

Or trying to remember which way is power up, on an amp.

I'd certainly hope they'd at least know that, considering... :P

Anyhow, despite this brutally cold weather spell we've been hit with, the Fender amp has been cranking right along (to be on topic,) when I'm actually able to play, that is. It's been so cold, it's been difficult to do so.

If you play the Rumble, I think you're adding more life to the longevity of it. Better to use it, than have it sit unused, and possibly degenerate. If you are dealing with a fair amount cold in the room you keep it in, warming it up a bit by being powered on is good for it too.

I have to say it does sound pretty damned good with the violin bass. Actually, it sounds pretty good with the Precision and Jazz, as well. I've just been using the violin bass a lot lately. Speaking of letting things sit and degenerate, I've been thinking about firing up that Orange head, and even playing the violin bass through it, which I've never done. If I don't, I will be using the head probably within the next month or so, depending when I'm actually going to Boston to rehearse. I think the tentative plan is to start gigging in March, which hopefully by then, it will have warmed up a bit. I should turn that amp on beforehand, just to make sure everything is working correctly, though.

It doesn't hurt the amp to fire it up for a bit, and it doesn't use much electricity for a couple of running minutes. It really is better for any amp to be powered up, even if not being played.

I didn't get around to it today, maybe I might in a couple of days. I'm a little curious to see how that hollow body sounds going through that 18" speaker. I'm not sure if I'm going to wind up using that bass as my main instrument with my main music situation, or not. I'd need to get a case for it, if I decide to do so. That would be mighty risky to carry it around out and about without one. It probably isn't as beefy as the Precision to have get knocked around, not that I'd even want that to happen to that one, either.

You're call on that one partner. The Precision is probably the closest thing to a tank with the heavier neck for travel.
