Yeah, that would make sense. So, you have anything in mind to take it's place, or you don't have any GAS at the moment?

I'm going to hang in with the Walnut, and do the Ampeg V-4B to replace the Bassman 500 that's doing it's unwanted sounds, again.

Sounds good. I just hope none of my own amps crap the bed, but so far, so good. Eventually, we've had plans to get an Ampeg, since my girlfriend wants one, but I'm still planning on keeping the other two amps. I doubt I could really sell, or have to take a huge loss on the Rumble 350 combo, anyway.

It's sort of obsolete, when you compare it to what's out now, with the prices, including the amp that replaced it, the Rumble 500. I suppose if the weight was the same, maybe, or if someone really wanted one. It's not that it's a crap amp, but it's a heavy SOB, when you compare it to the newer model, and the price point, as well.

I don't think it's worth to sell, if I could only get $300 for it, if I'm lucky. I did pay $500 for it, but it was new, and that was the price. Also, I've had pretty bad luck even trying to move gear around here. I still haven't sold the Schecter, although I've had a few jokers try to lie to me, and sell it for a very low price, so they can sell it themselves, and make a profit. I know the game.

Are you still kicking around the Ampeg SVT-7PRO? It's a good head.

I'm thinking that could be the one to get, since it's not uber expensive, especially if AMS does some open box, or scratch and dent deals, and the specs are similar to the Orange head. Of course, this could be subject to change, and we could go with a different model. That happened when I got the Precision Bass, instead of the Jazz, because of the deal on it was too good to pass up.

The SVT-7PRO is a 1,000 watts @4 ohms, and 600 watts @8 ohms. It also has a mute, and phones jack. The line outs are two combination 1/4" / Speakon jacks. If I remember, it only weighs about 15 pounds.

Yeah, the specs look pretty good on it. I've also watched a few demo videos on it, and liked what I heard, as well.

It's my favorite SS Ampeg of any of the amps in that category. Probably very close to your Orange.

I think so. The Orange is actually 4 pounds lighter, but it's also a lunchbox sized head, and it doesn't have as much features that the Ampeg has, with the EQ options and all of that. It's a more basic layout, with just bass, mid range, and treble EQ knobs, and gain and master volume. It does have a DI out and I think an effects loop, but the Ampeg does have more bells and whistles, especially with the mid adjustments. It looks like I'll be using the Orange pretty soon, anyhow.

Pretty soon, I'll be going to Boston to that rehearsal building, to start rehearsing with that guitarist that has a place there with his other band, who's helping us out. I won't be bringing the cabs, since he has a Kustom 3 x 15" stack there, and I'm going to be borrowing the cab. I can use the whole thing if I wanted to, but I want to use my Orange head, since that's going to be my live amp, and I haven't even really got a lot of chance to use it since I've had it. In fact, I haven't even turned it on in over a year. It's just been sitting in the room upstairs, albeit still hooked up. I've been using the Rumble in my office for rehearsing. We're planning on doing shows pretty soon, as far as I know, so I'll be able to finally use all of it.

Yeah, it's been sitting dormant for far too long.

It's not a bad idea to power up an amp once in a while. Not even to play it as much as just to heat things up a bit. Turn the settings knobs around. That keeps the interior surfaces of the pots more clean and dust free. Can also eliminate pitting.

Yeah, I probably should check it out, especially since it does have a couple of tubes for the preamp section. The one thing that I did do before I did play through it was let it heat up on standby for about 4 minutes, according to what the manual suggested. Usually, I'd just tune up during that time, or I'd turn it on before I get everything set up. I've never even plugged the violin bass into it, which I've now had for just over a year, and certainly not the Precision Bass. I do intend to, though.

The all tube amps are pretty much about the same with suggested one minute stand-by. I do my stand-by for about two minutes at power up. At power down, I do about 3-4 minutes stand-by. Then I totally power down, let it sit for a few minutes more for a cool down. Then I cover the entire amp. The End.

You have a cover for it? I don't have any for mine, although the Orange has it's own carry bag.

Sure I have a cover for it. Either a beach towel, or a US Flag. I cover my amps to keep the dust off of them, and it keeps the dogs away from them. I cover the head, and the cab. I kicked around trying a SVT-610 cover to see if it will cover both the head, and cab. The length may be ok, but the jack plugged into the cab, may perturbed a bit to far out for the fit.
