I don't play much bass, but I do play it in a old time style fiddle band. I use a new Rumble 40 and it sounds perfect. When we play Contra Dances they'd like me to have more volume. I'm thinking of getting another Rumble 40 or maybe 100. So, the question is: what's the best way to use 2 amps. I have a very old Electro Harmonix 5x Junction contraption with five 1/4" jacks all wired together - can I just plug the bass in one of the jacks and the 2 amps into 2 other jacks? Would the line output from one amp into the input of the other be too hot? How about the effects send output of the Rumble 100 to the 40? In the old days we just went from the second input of one amp to the first input of the other....

You might invest in a Radial Big Shot A/B/Y selector box. It will permit connecting to two amps simultaneously and controlling which or both of them receives an input signal as well as preventing ground loop issues via a switchable isolation transformer.

Yup. Arjay nailed it.
A good quality A/B/Y switch is invaluable for just such endeavours.
Radial makes several great quality models to choose from.
Mine is called the Twin City.

What settings do you use at each venue? I just got a new Rumble 40 and used it in a country dance band with my five string Warwick Rock Bass and it was plenty loud. Do you play an upright bass or electric? I'm wondering if I should have bought the Rumble 100 instead.
I bought the 40 for the light weight and portability. I got rid of a Beringer BXL1800 because of how heavy the darn thing was. Loved the tone but not the weight...
I also use an Ampeg PF-500 with the Porta-flex PF-115HE at my currant sit-down gig...

Hey muddyroy, how long have you had your PF-500? Any issues with it?

Howdy..I've had it since July, 2012. It's been reliable and with good tone. I've had an early sixties 35W, B15N and a 50W, B15 from the seventies. I liked the portability of them so that's why I got the new one. I got tired of hauling around cabinets and heads.
