Those are really some fine amps. I backed up on Bass a lot of guitar players that played through Twin, and Deluxe Reverbs. What sounds they put out.

If I had the money, I'd think I'd like to have one or the other, maybe both.

If I played a 6 stringer, I would have one of the two myself.

I understand they used the Showman amps quite a bit for bass back then. I guess it had to do with it was pretty loud for the time and had a 2 x 15" cab with a lot of the models. 85 watts compared to the 50 for a Bassman, until you get into the 70's.

Showman amps were very well used. Ted Nugent used Showmans. And he was loud, and clear.

They seemed to work well as a multi purpose amplifier. Probably had pretty good headroom to them. That's interest that they'd have a 2 x 15" speaker configuration for guitar use. You know who does that? John Fogerty. He actually uses an Ampeg 2 x 15" cab and a Diezel tube head. The 15"s are actually Eminence Legend guitar speakers, not bass ones. He has this for songs like "Proud Mary" and "Bad Moon Rising," to emulate the sound of his Kustom rig he had back in the day. I suppose that was more practical, or road worthy than trying to hunt down one of those old Kustom stacks and tour with it. These amps would be almost 50 years old and who knows what kind of condition you have to deal with.

The Kustoms were magnificent Amps. Lead or Bass.

That's pretty cool. 8) A pair of those 3 x 15" cabs would be something to shake the walls.

I don't recall seeing the 3X15 cabs used much, if any. The 2X15 cabs were the main sets. I love seeing pics of the Kustoms.

The 3 x 15's weren't too common but I saw a few "back in the day". I think the dimensions just weren't too conducive to packing the enclosure into the automobiles of the day save for a Ford Econoline or Dodge Tradesman van.

Speaking of Kustom, this site has all kinds of info on those: http://www.vintagekustom.com/frame.html
