Altec's were some of the finest made, and not cheap either.

What amps typically had those with their cabs?

They were like most amps back then, you could get pretty much the speaker brand you wanted. Kustoms were great for the speaker options. Some companies gave options for the cabs, and which speakers in them.

So there wasn't a particular brand that came with them, then?

Back then you actually had choices of what brand speaker you wanted in a cab. Some came with JBL's, some with Altec's, etc. Fender Bassman's were like that too. A Store have had 5 in stock. Two with Altec's, three with JBL's, that type of thing. Some stores changed out speakers for you, when you bough the cab.

That's pretty cool to actually have options like that. 8)

That's the was it was done back then. The price of the cab varied by what speakers were installed in it.

One of the most agreeable amps to get it the way you wanted, was Kustom. Those were great working amps too.

Those were pretty cool looking amps, too. 8) They're still in business, but obviously not the same people as back then. Then again, neither is Fender or Ampeg.

The old Kustoms were real working players amps. They were well built, and held up to whatever. I was partial to the 200 head, with two 2X15 cabs. That was a good setup.

4 15"s would be a nice wall of speakers. 8)

My friend had the 4, 15" JBL's, and it sounded great.

You should get 4 15"s. Just get three more 15" cabs like the one you have and drop the head down to 2 ohms and you'd be ready to go, then crank that $@!&! 8)

Oh yeah! That's the nice thing about the Fender tube heads, a choice of 8, 4, or 2 ohms.
