It looked like those Super Beatle Vox amps that were used in the films. I suppose that was the flagship model, wasn't it?

The Beatles, and Iron Butterfly did them justice.

Yeah, although what The Beatles desperately needed was a decent, powerful PA system. I suppose they were the reason such a thing was finally invented, though.

They were getting into a new area of R&R. Large Arenas, and Large Halls. The Beatles escalated live shows to a new height. Somewhat like The Kingsmen needing a more powerful bass amp. SUNN!

Yeah, like they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

That's a very true statement. Louder R&R was slowly coming along, but the British Invasion Kicked Open the Doors!
The original Vox Super Beatles Amp peaked at 240 Watts. At 240 Watts it has a power limiter that cut in to protect the head from coming apart. Or as we know it today, a limiter to prevent clipping.

I've read that they have had some issues because of that. Some of those amps fried, I think.

Unfortunately that's true. They were actually too much overpowered for tube amps. Vox went their own way, not as Sunn, and Marshall early on. Pre Ampeg and the others a few years later.

I saw that in the other post. I take it you're still using the Ampeg 2 x 12" cab, then?

YEP! 12's And tubes sound great together. Apparently Fender isn't doing any serious 2X12 cabs. Nothing wrong with SVT-212AV.

Does that amp go down to 2 ohms? If so, you could really get nasty and get another 2 x 12" cab and run two of them.

The Super has a three position impedance position switch, 2, 4, and 8. That's all I'd need is a full stack. A really nice dream, but a half stack is more than great in my little space. Like I've said before, I love 12's, and tubes.

Yeah, that would probably be overkill in that space, but that's cool that you'd have the option to begin with. I have to say that's one thing that the new Rumble 800 has going for it, the ability to go down to 2 ohms. You are less restricted with the cab options in that case. Hell, you could be really twisted and run two 8 x 10" cabs, but have fun hauling that crap. :P

What are you trying to kill me or something?

I'm glad to see that Fender has really backed the Rumble series. Yes, the 2 ohm impedance is a fine up grade they incorporated into the new Rumble 800. Fender is making the Rumbles better, and more respectable as time goes by. If I wasn't so hell bent on the Super Bassman, that Rumble 800 would have been a possible head to run with the SVT-212AV cab. The Hartke TX600 is in trouble after seeing the Rumble 800.

Yeah, they could have came out with it a little sooner, so I would have gotten one. :P Oh well, the Ampeg isn't a slouch, either.
