A good question. They were very susceptible to fail at just the wrong times too.

I've certainly never came across any in my travels, but I wasn't exactly looking. Mostly, just from pictures back in the day.

A lot of those coil cords that would get all tangled up.

Yeah, just like your old school telephone cords. Just of a random question, but do you still use a landline? We still have a couple in the house, one because we have Cox internet, and the other because of the alarm system, but I haven't used the damned thing in a few years, ever since I got an iPhone.

We actually have the ringer shut off, otherwise we'd get what we call s**t calls. You know, the original "spam," other than junk mail. Now, they have robots doing that crap. Sometimes, I get them on the iPhone, too. At least you can block them on that. No one we know, or have any dealings with that involves a phone uses the house number. Besides, it's easier to get in touch with the iPhone, or whatever device you use.

I remember back in the day, I used to have an answering machine machine, and I'd be creative with my message for when people called. Sometimes, I'd sample dialog from songs that might a spoken word thing, or a movie sample. One time I put my voice through guitar effects, and a mic going into a guitar amp, and I had it all screwed up, with it feedbacking in the end of it. :P It wasn't like I had anyone important calling me, other than friends and family, or music related stuff with musicians responding to ads, and that sort of thing. It wasn't like I worked for some office or something. I worked for my parents with their lawn business, so I didn't have to be professional in that sense.

We still use a land line phone, and a digital answer machine. I get inundated by those damn robo calls on both the land line, and the cell all day long.

The old coil phone cord must have been where the design for the coil instrument cords came from. PITA's to say the least.

My favorite was back in the day, before the robocalls, I used to get calls for aluminum siding, and I lived in a friggin' apartment. :P I suppose they didn't know that, just called whatever number they'd get their hands on. I tell you, I'd hate to have a telemarketing job. I can imagine you'd have to deal with a lot of annoyed people. I wonder if they even still have those, with the automation now? Probably to some extent.

I thought those coil cables looked pretty cool, but I can see how they could be problematic. I remember the telephone ones used to get all tangled up on themselves, so I imagine the guitar ones wouldn't fair much better.

There still are telemarketers just with automatic dialers now.

It was hell running across a stage to untangle a coil cord during a live show. I still have a small scar on my chin from a SG Deluxe while attempting to plug in a cord jack that popped out during a show. The lead player didn't know I was there, and spun around catching me in the chin.

Ouch, that had to suck! Was it Pete Townshend? :P He actually did that on purpose to Abbey Hoffman, because he went on stage when they were playing, and Pete wasn't having it.

Speaking of Woodstock, this year will be it's 50th anniversary. The hippies are getting old, but then again, so am I. :P I wonder who's still left that were there and performed?

August 15, 16, & 17th, 1969. That was an incredible dream come true for that to happen when it did. I would've loved to have been there.

You know, it was a lot more expansive that you were lead to believe, based on what the movie showed, as far as the amount of bands there. I never realised that, until I looked at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_p ... k_Festival

I guess they only just showed some minimal highlights in the film. I suppose they had to, considering the length of the film, in comparison to the whole actual thing.

The number of big bands that turned down performing there was list in it'self. Iron Butterfly was one. And I think Led Zeppelin was another.

I read about Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page said that they already had gig commitments, and couldn't do it. That would have been something to add to the list, though. I wonder why Iron Butterfly turned it down? I think The Doors weren't invited because of all of the trouble Jim Morrison was getting into. I'm not certain if that's true, though. That Miami incident caused them a lot of hassle, I guess.

Timing was everything to get that many bands, plus the roads were block in every direction. Helicopters were used to get bands in and out.
