Well, they also make medium scale versions of the Dunlops that I have on the Ibanez, which certainly seem to not be as stiff feeling as the Rotosounds were. That's also another thought, but I wanted to get some of those for the Peavey bass, first. I want to see if I can get that thing going again.

I'd want to see which bass is up and running.

Well, the two main ones that I have in mind are the Squier Jazz, and the Peavey Zodiac. Pretty much the only thing after that is the Fender Precision Bass Lyte, which was my girlfriend's main bass when I met her, and I used for a long time. The other Ibanez she had was fixed a long time ago. After all of that, all of the basses will be in full playing order. The Peavey was the one that was out of commission with issues for the longest time. I don't think I've ever even got much playing time with it, to be honest.

The Squier Jazz sounds pretty interesting. I'm honestly not anywhere near up on the Peavey basses. The Fender Precision Bass Lyte is another good one.

I would like to get them all operational again. It's a shame that they've just been sitting around. Although, I do pick them up from time to time just to play on them, but nothing really seriously. The Precision Bass Lyte was a workhorse for years, and it will probably be most like my girlfriend playing it, since it is hers in the first place. I'd really like to get the Peavey going, since it does have a good feeling neck, with a maple board, and it's never really gotten it's due. I kind of shoved it aside and got another bass or two, instead of really trying to get it fixed up properly. It sounds too good to let it rot like that. Very beefy sounding bass. It's on the heavy side, too. Maybe that's why it sounds like that.

That can be tuff when you get into more basses, keeping them all working.

I think I can get it done. I'm certainly in better shape with that than I was a few years ago. At least the Ibanez CT series bass is working, and I did manage to fix that buzz on the Peavey with the A string. I'm hoping when I get flats for it, it won't revert back to that, though.

(A) Strings are a pain. For some reason they don't always tune right either.

I suppose they can be problematic sometimes.

I guess strings are strings no matter how you use them.

Well, I've learned over the years it's best not to cheap out on them if you can help it. That usually helps.

That’s true about strings. In most cases less expensive strings aren’t worth what you pay for them.

Yeah, it's funny how you can spend a lot of money on a guitar or an amp, but then skimp on things like strings, or even cables, which also contributes a great deal to your sound.

You're right about the strings, and the cords. Cheaper cords can really create problems when stepped on, pinched etc. A good place to get static sounds, or cutting out. Back in the 60's' and early 70's, there was a problem with the solder connections on the cord's jacks.

I wonder if there are many cables that have survived from that time period?
