Yep! I'm a Fender Bass Amp user. It works great.

Same here! I tell you, after rehearsing yesterday, this combination sounds pretty good. 8)

Great! I'm glad your new Axe is playing good with the Rumble 350. Fender amps are the real deal. It's good that you hung on to it, and sell off the 350.

I originally wanted to sell the Orange head to buy the Rumble 500 combo because of it's lighter weight, but I couldn't get any dibs with it. I'd still keep the 350 for a house amp/back up if need be, because it does sound good with good power and I doubt I can get a lot of money for it, anyway. There's so much new stuff out that's cheap, it's kind of hard to sell old stuff these days, unless it's cheaper. My only complaint about the 350 is the weight humping the stair cases, but it doesn't kick my $@! as bad these days, because I've been exercising. I can walk 3 miles easy now, when 6 months ago I'd be lucky to go a 1/2 mile without my lower back locking up on me. They aren't lying when they say when you have your health, you have everything.

I don't remember, but how much does the 350 weigh? I know the 3rd generation Rumbles are pretty reasonable in price. It would be hard to sell the 350 when the 500's are around.

My 350 is 65 pounds, probably because it's MDF, and the 500 is around half of that from what I remember. Then again, Peavey combos were heavy as hell without even that kind of power, so it's nothing new there. Part of being a bassist, I suppose. At least I have it downstairs so I don't have to haul it up a narrow staircase. That's what sucks, trying to manage the weigh of that outward and not try to smash my knuckles against the walls.

My house is a single story, and I have enough fun moving things through doorways. Stairs are definitely for a Roadie, and a younger one at that. The Super Bassman weighs 11 lbs. more than the Bassman 115 Neo cab. Neo speakers have an advantage.

Have you ever noticed any difference between the neos and regular speakers, sonically?

I obviously like the Eminence, for a deeper tone, over the HyDrive. Both being Neo 15's. I'd have to try a non Neo side by side to hear the difference, if any. The Neo Eminence 15 in the Bassman is a US manufacture, if that could be contributing factor for sound. I don't know.

I imagine the HyDrive had a brighter tone because of the aluminum speaker portion, didn't it? I don't think the Celestion I got for the 18" was a Neo (it probably would have been more expensive if it was,) but there was definitely a difference between it and the original Carvin in there. I may down the road, if I get the funds, replace the 10"s with Celestions, too.

The aluminum in the HyDrive was a bit better in the mids. But the Eminence is a clear overall tone. Celestions, have always been a quality speakers, way back with the JBL, EV, SRO, Jensen. Ya' know, when the dinosaurs roamed. The first choice of the Lord of Loud, Jim Marshall.

Yeah, they still use them. Speaking of EV, there's an EV Force 10 speaker that came stock in my '82 Fender Super Champ. It was apparently an upgrade option that Fender did at the time. It's essential a PA speaker that's 150 watts, even though the amp is 18 watts tube. I can play a bass through that amp and not even worry about blowing the speaker. It vibrates the hell out of the enclosure, though. Not a lot a room in that thing. I can't overdrive the amp with a guitar without it getting loud as hell. In fact, I never have overdriven it because of the volume (it's in a small room, though.) There is a separate overdrive channel with push pull knobs and all of that. Sometimes, it's just easier to use a dirt box, though.

EV's a good one. I forgot one of the true greats in speaker-dom, the Altec Lansing.

Oh yeah, I've heard about those. The company is still around, but they don't seem to make that sort of thing anymore. It looks Bluetooth speakers, outdoor speakers, headphones, and smartphone and tablet stuff. Nothing musician related, unless just listening to music, I suppose.

EV doesn't make the speaker that I have, anymore, as well. They have a 12" speaker, but the one in the amp is a 10" version. If I were to ever need to replace it, I'd have to go with another brand, probably a Celestion. Might as well use what I like with my bass rig.
