Not really set on a particular model, but that's me talking to her about the SVT 7 Pro, more than anything. I think it's probably the most comparable to the Orange head, which would probably make the most sense to get, since I'd still be using that amp, as well.

I'd think it would be best, since they pretty much have the same specs (1000 watts, tube preamp, etc.) It's not like I really need 1000 watts, but since I already have it with the Orange, I might as well keep it in the same ballpark.

Then again, that could always be subject to change, and we could even go for one of those Portaflex models, which are cheaper, but they also don't have the tube preamp. Then again, the Fender doesn't have one, and that thing sounds pretty good, so that might not matter. I'd have to really do a comparison with the Ampegs and really decide if that tube pre is a deciding factor or not.

Amp heads are a real gas. Almost a challenge, or a quest to find the right one. HAPPY HUNTING! I do like amps.

Yeah, I do, too. Sometimes, I think I'm into them more than the basses themselves. It seems like I put more interest into them, at least. You can make a crappy bass sound good with modifications (or even a string change,) but it's hard to make a crappy amp sound good.

YEP! The amps are the power of everything.

Indeed. Another thing that I'll have to look into getting is a cabinet to go with it. I suppose I could just use what I have, but might as well go all out and get a matching cab. I want to get something that I could use by itself, without any issue, too. I don't want to make the same mistake I did before and wind up having to get extra crap, in which half of it I can't use effectively on their own.

I wouldn't advise you on any cab. There are so many out there, as you know. I do like the cab I'm using with the Bassman. The 12" speakers are the best component of the setup I use.

I've been thinking about those 12" speaker cabs. That's certainly something to keep in mind.

I do like the 12's over 10's. I guess if I were going to use a 15" cab for live stage, it would be 2X15 cab like the old Kustom, or Sunn cabs. They did have the sound. 4X12 Cabs were killer stage monsters too.

Actually, I'd love to get a 4 x 12" cab. I think that would be pretty cool. It would probably be only slightly bigger than a 4 x 10" cab, but not exactly something that's easy to find, and often pretty expensive. It seems like a rare cab these days, unless you know where to look. Not exactly common for bass, like it was back in the day.

12's Are getting back into the main stream again, after quite a low popularity. In the 60's, into the 70's, you either used 12's, or 15's. 10's weren't that prevalent. This half stack would sound super on a stage. The SG Std.'s are a big time player through it. Image

Yeah, it does seem like a formidable combination. 8)

It's almost more power than I need. I forget how much power the Humbuckings have.

I may have said this before, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how everything has blended together. The amps, and the basses.

It's kind of like having the right ingredients for a perfect recipe.
