You were actually the last person to even post there a long time ago. At least we've been dusting off the cobwebs in the bass amp section a bit. :P

"Wake up! You can't remember where it was. Had this dream stopped?"

When you wrote that, you reminded me of that lyrical tidbit. :P

Yeah, that's another one. I haven't heard that song in ages.

Oh yeah, if it's too loud, then you're too old. Although, does that still apply, since the 60's generation is pushing 70, if not in their 70's? :P

Yeah, if it's too loud, it's because you are old, because it was too loud in the first place. :P Speaking of which, I made sure to wear earplugs when I went to a concert last night. I made that mistake a few years ago with another show, the band was loud as hell, and I was right next to one of the side bins, or whatever you call those huge speakers on the side of the stage, and next to the bassist who had an Ashdown 900 watt head and 8 x 10" cab. Ouch!

My first Mountain concert I attended, wasn't backstage. I was three feet away from, and directly in front of a PA speaker column. And seven feet away from Leslie West. I was used to being around loud rock bands, but this topped them all. I heard nothing but Mountain in my head for a solid day, and a half. Mountain was louder than Blue Cheer, Cream, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. Felix really was the best at putting together a band's sound. He was the true master, for live sounds, and his studio work was as good as George Martin's was also as a studio master.

Wow, louder than Blue Cheer? I heard that Blue Cheer had to nail the drums to the stage, because they were so loud, to keep them from moving, or is that a bunch of BS?

That was true, but a lot of bands nailed down the drums.

Yeah, I imagine so, especially if you're like the Who, with 20 Hiwatt stacks piled on the stage. :P

There were, and probably still are anchors that attach to the bass drum. One type used, were the black rubberized cups. The other type used nail style anchors that dug in as the bass drum moved forward. The nail style worked somewhat, but nails hammered into a stage held the bass drum in place the best.
