Our daughter is house hunting for us, with realtors in Alabama. She's doing a good job, and learning about house hunting as it is. Image

You looking to live on the coast, or more inland there? You know, I don't think I've ever been there. I've pretty much have been through the states that I95 goes through, on the east coast. That, and the Amtrak line that's along the same route.

Tuscaloosa is about center, middle of the state, but about 2/3 to 3/4 north of center. Almost due west of Atlanta, so it's a bit more north within.

Oh, OK. So that's the place you want to settle in, then?

Yeah,........ Not in the city of Tuscaloosa, but in the county of Tuscaloosa. We like the area.

What do they got going on around there? Is it pretty much boonies, or is there any sort of music shops or anything like that around there?

I'll have to look into that. Between Tuscaloosa, and North Port, there are a good number stores around. Maybe some music shops. Not really the boonies, just a few miles out from town.

There probably is something around there. I think the boonies aren't really much of the boonies anymore, especially with the availability of internet access and satellite connections. You can pretty much have anything shipped anywhere, and have access to all kinds of stuff. We might not have any jet packs or flying cars yet, but there's a lot of technology that we do have.

There are actually a few stores around in the city, or around Tuscaloosa.

It's a bit under the size of Fort Lauderdale, thereabouts. It's different up there.

Yeah, I imagine it would be different. How's the climate around there in comparison?

Hot in the summer, and it possibly snows in winter. There are times when it gets too freezing, or just a bit below. Tornadoes can go through, or in the area, but no Hurricanes. A big college town, Alabama to the death there. No Pro teams there, like here with the Miami Dolphins. There are pro teams in other states around it though.

I suppose it probably gets colder that where you were originally. I don't know what would be worse to deal with, tornadoes or hurricanes. Hopefully, you won't with either, but that's up to nature, I suppose. I guess the nearest NFL teams are in Georgia and Tennessee. Florida is there, because of the pan handle, as well. I suspect a lot of people might follow the Atlanta Falcons, since they're the oldest team around there. Then there's also the Tennessee Titans.

I guess it doesn't matter too much. I've known people that live in Florida, come from California, and their team is the Dallas Cowboys, so go figure. Around here it's pretty much all New England Patriots, to almost the point of obsessiveness. :P They do win a lot, so I can see why. I haven't really watched or followed football in ages. I've mean to try and watch stuff, but I'm always doing something else at the time. Sometimes, when we were out for a walk, we'd see the games playing by going past various bars and restaurants, and stop for a minute to catch something, especially if it's the playoffs, or whatever.

The Saints aren't that far out of the picture either I guess. It can get pretty cold there, but not as bad as Utica, Ny. A lot less snow too if it does snow there than Utica also.
Tornadoes could be a problem, but getting really tired of the Hurricanes.
