I know what you mean. I think if you were to go for a 15" cab, that would be the one, if not a strong contender.

Absolutely a first choice. One good thing for the HD150, it's a combo that is doing everything for me a half stack would do.

That's true. You got everything you need together with that. The one thing I don't understand is why they only make the lower wattage amps with the 15"s, and not like the 500 watt models. They usually make those with 2 x 10" configurations, for some reason. Although, TC Electronic made a 500 watt combo with a 15" speaker several years back. That, and the usual 2 x 10" configuration. That was GAS before I even got the Fender Rumble combo. I would have actually gotten that one, but they discontinued it before I could. You ever have a situation like that to where you wanted to get something, but then it was discontinued?

I'm thinking a 2X10 setup has the wattage split between the two, instead of all the wattage going to the one driver. Even though it's a 15", it may be more than most 15's coils are able to take without over heating.

That's a good point, and a lot of those combos you can add an extension cab, which can often be a 15" speaker cab, so there's that.

In away I'm glad I have no extension jack for a cab on my hartke. Too tempting to get a cab.

The funny thing as cheap as that amp is, you could get another one and run both of them together, and it would cost pretty much the same as an extra cab, more or less. I suppose there are a few cheap cabs out there under $300 that are new, though. I know that amp seems to go for $379 new.

That's a good point. A good thing for me, I don't need to add anything. I like that the HD150 is a 4 ohm, so I get the full 150 watts from it. Enough power going on in this 11' X 13' room I play in. Even at a low set volume, there are a few things rattling I'm here as it is.

I imagine so, especially with that 15" HyDrive speaker, which seems to be really efficient.

I would have to think the HD150's 150 watts @ 4 ohms, does better than the Rumble 200's 140 Watts @ 8 ohms. Just my thoughts behind it. Less resistance, and the driver puts out more @ 4 ohms. Image

Yeah, and I think the speaker is more efficient, too.

I agree, and that's not knocking the Eminence driver, but I just prefer the HyDrive series drivers, and yes they do seem to be more efficient. Sensitive at best.

Yeah, the Eminence speakers are excellent, but I think the aluminum adds a punch to the tone that makes it stand out more. Of course, that might not be for everybody, but that's why there's so many different options out there.

They haven't always been my first choice, but I like HyDrives now.

They seem pretty nice. I wish I could score one, but that seems unlikely at this point. They do offer a single, 300 watt HyDrive 12" speaker cab, that's something like $199.99 new, but seems to be only in 4 ohms. I guess it's meant for their 300 watt head they have that's Class D. It's the smaller version of the head you had. That could be doable if it were 8 ohms, as an additional cab, or single cab for lower volume situations, but I don't think that would work out too well putting 800 watts into it, being at 4 ohms, even if I do keep the volume down on it. At least with 400 watts at 8 ohms, that would be a lot less risky, since it's only 100 watts more that what the cab is rated at. They do have a classic 2 x 10" aluminum cab for the same price, which was another idea I've toyed around with, as well. That one is only 200 watts, but it should be OK with the Rumble 4 x 10" cab. Then again, were would I even justify using both cabs, unless it was some huge place? At least with something like the HyDrive, I could get away with just using it by itself, and using both cabs. More flexibility, but more cost.
