Yeah, and not always the best resale value on them, either.

Some cabs get really beat. That doesn't help any either. People may think the speakers are shot in the beat looking cabs. Whether they are, or not, it's somewhat easy to think that way about them.

Well, that's probably the nature of the beast, for them to eventually get beat up, simply because of their typical size, being moved around, and not the easiest thing to move. It's not like they are easy to baby because of that, especially your old ones that are really heavy. I think as long as the speakers are good, and the frame that holds them in there is solid, they should be perfectly fine, no matter what the outside looks like. I guess people want to have shiny new things, though.

Bass speakers wear out. Unlike lower power guitar speakers that do last, a 800 watt Bass combo is the equivalent of a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine hooked up to a paper grocery bag.
If you're gigging and one driver goes, I recommend replacing it and selling the cabinet for a new one.
While the drivers look OK from the front, I usually see radial stress cracks forming on the backside of the cones.
The voice coils get small shorts between windings. Its not enough to blow the speaker, but it doesn't kick as hard as it used too. Measure the voice coils. They might vary by 2 ohms. Yes, its hard to sell used bass cabs

That makes sense, since you have to use a lot more power to push bass frequencies.

Since cab is tougher is tougher to sell, I can't see trying to sell it. If it's a good solid cab, do what you need to do with the speakers.

Loading in new factory replacements usually cost more than the original cab cost.
If they are special, reconing may be worth it, if you don't have to ship them.
Aftermarket replacements are all over the map. But a good bass speaker won't be cheap, 100 to $300.
I used a lot of Celestion PA replacement speakers. They sound good and handle a lot of power for the money.

Have you cranked it up high on the volume to see what it does?

Now I'm ready to crank it up. It's back under the Combo.

I was two years into my life when the letter from Richard Nixon showed up. That's what really made the whole drat thing so lousy.

Cool, you got the extra cab again. 8) That should make enhance your sound quite a bit, I think.

It's my former cab. They didn't sell it, so I bought it back. The 30 days was still in affect from May, 20th. They brought out from the holding area in the back room.

That's good. At least you don't have to deal with trying find another one and wait, or whatever.
