Yeah, you might have a CB radio, or a walkie-talkie, and that's it, other than a house line or pay telephone. My parents were into the whole CB radio thing back in the 70's. That was a big thing, that I remember.

Yep, that was it. Same thing with cameras. If you didn't have a camera with you, no pics. Not like today with the smart phones. People always ask me if I had pics of the events I worked. I couldn't carry around a camera, and work at the same time. Plus if you did have a Instamatic, there was still the film developing to deal with.

That's true, unless there was a photographer around to document something for a magazine, or whatever. I suppose at the time, it was a job, and you really didn't think of the historical significance of it, or that sort of thing. I guess in a way, that probably what made it even more special. Younger generations that are fans of say like a group like Led Zeppelin, or The Beatles, not being around to actually witness it when it happened. Just the music left behind and the stories of those who were there.

That was it. We were helping to make it happen. That was our small part of the big picture.

That's true. You did keep everything running, especially things on a big scale.

Some of the shows were more intense than others were. They required a lot more attention to detail, etc.

You ever have a gig that was a total clusterf***, where everything just went wrong, or something like that?

Not a total, but more like a borderline apocalypse, in the Houston Astrodome. Those are what make bad dreams a reality.

There was a total break down in stage security. We were doing temporary stage security until they got the security people to the stage where they were needed. I didn't have enough of a crew to handle both.

Was there a lot of trouble because of that?

That was the type of crowd that wanted to be on the stage, as the band played. That didn't happen. Then finally the security showed up to take over.

I can see where that would be problematic.

It was, and myself, and the crew made our presence Extremely Visible. No playing around about it, this was the business we chose.

Yeah, you have to be like that, otherwise you could get into big trouble.
