Hello all, I'm brand new here and a new Squier Strat owner. I've been a Gibson/Epi guy until now. I still have my Epi LP Standard, but I wanted a strat and got this one nice n cheap.

I had a few quick questions for you all...

1. How can I tell what model strat I have? My headstock says Squier Strat by Fender and on the top it says Affinity Series. On the back there is an IC######## number says made in Indonesia. I'm asking because I want to DL the owner's manual & wiring diagram from the website and want to make sure I get the right one.

2. When buying replacement parts or upgrades, can I buy just like I'm buying for a Fender strat or are there any differences?

Thanks in advance!

Welcom to the Fender club!. You have a Squier Affinity strat. That's pretty much it. Parts , etc. are not interchangeable with other strats, specifically, American, Mexican, etc.

so when looking for new parts or pickups etc, I have to see if it's compatible with a squier affinity strat only, not fender?

Pickups are interchangeable. But any hardware you buy will have different specs then a Fender. Things like the tuner holes in the headstock will be different.

Oh alright man, appreciate it. I figured that was the case with the p/u's, but i wasn't sure about the parts. I think I'm just going to screw around on this one, probably do the p/u's eventually...but I'm saving up for either a MIM Strat or Tele. I'm going to "relic" this one too hahaha....just to see how it looks.

I have a 2002 Affinity Squire that has only for stock parts the neck, body, trem block, and saddle assembly-everything else has been changed and I used a stock Strat pickguard that fit okay with the exception of three screw holes that were off very slightly but not enough to have to redrill any holes.
