The newest family photo, including the new addition to the clan, a Hofner Ignition club bass. I use it for our acoustic group and with flats on it it's a dream to play and sounds great! The old arthritis is kicking up worse these days and my Fender acoustic bass was just too much for the left hand to make it through a 4 hr gig, even with flats and the action set as low as possible.

This is my first experience with a Hofner and so far I've been very pleased. I was never a fan of the violin bass look so never really tried one.

Good story Chris. I hope your arthritis gets better. I'd like to see a pic of that Hofner bass, could you re-load it please ?

I can sympathize with you on the arthritis. Hope yours gets better.
I've often thought about a Hofner bass haven't been around any to know how well they played or sounded. Thanks for the review.

As for the arthritis there's really only one prognosis, it will get worse. It's not rheumatoid, it's osteo-arthritis. So as explained to me and looking at the xrays there is virtually NO cartilage/tissue in the joints on my thumbs. So the pain is caused by the joints grinding/rubbing together. Since that is the only area in my hand with that type of damage it's probably work related. I worked in a lumber yard for years while going to college, pulling and stacking lumber on trucks. And I spent almost 6 years in a foundry swinging a hammer and moving/lifting castings so those things probably took a toll.

I take an Alleve before every gig and enjoy the music.

Now, what happen to the photo?

I hear you, Chris. I too have osteo but in my knees. Painful, yes; but, most days are fine so far. Look at the good side, I can play guitar and drums with a little keyboard and you can play that bass. Think of all those without arthritis and, perhaps, they don't have those skills. All the same, I wish you many painless performances. :D

Sorry to hear about the arthritis...that disease is for the birds!

I wish I could see the pic, but it doesn't show up on the screen if my phone. I'll try on my laptop later.

On a related note, I wish the webmaster would do something about the difficulty of posting a pic on this site. If Instagram, Facebook, Tumbler and a dozen other sites have figured out how to allow me to post a pic directly from my phone to their website safely, surely they could figure out the same. Photobucket and all those similar websites have become so cumbersome and difficult to use, it's almost not worth the hassle to post anything.

So just checked again and the photo gone....apparently this site doesn't like linking to Google photos. So let's try it this way, I uploaded it to photobucket and will paste that URL here.........

No, the problem is not with this site, but Google. Unless you're logged in to google and allow cross-domain cookies, the image link goes to a redirect page to create an account or log in, and can't be displayed inline anywhere.

Google wants everyone to create an account and sign in before viewing photos. That way, they can keep track of who saw what, and steer advertising and inform three letter agencies accordingly. It's been a long time since they took down the "Don't be evil" motto from their headquarters.

If that's true then I stand corrected. But maybe now the photo will stay since it's loaded to Photobucket.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep in in mind for the future.

Good information on the Google photos linking, arth1. Thanks, for reposting your photo WI KISSfan. Nice collection. The abstract finishes are rad. Your photo finally works on my iPhone.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the photo FSB and Arth.

The airbrush work on my electrics was all done by my son and I love it on the electrics, but I think I'll leave the Hofner as is :D
