I can remember playing a song with my band back in 1970 by Creedence Clearwater Revival. We had a birthday get together on my.. well....birthday! a couple of nights back.
The song was ' Keep On Chooglin ' and none of us knew what 'Chooglin' actually meant. I can remember at the time I never actually knew.
So I'm asking all you bright lights out there, if anybody knows what 'Chooglin' meant? I know at least one of you will be able to educate me. Cheers !!
Rhumba

Hi Rhumba, never heard this song before, sounds to me like choogling means keep on going, like a choo choo train, but who know these days eh, we could all probably get arrested for inciting online choogling haha
just picturing you and your band being led off stage, big innocent pleading faces, "what have we done" ?

Thanks ripitup, I agree, I used to think of choo choo myself and it most be something like moving along or something like that. But like you say it might be something completely different, so we'll see if anyone else can shed any light. I'll try and find the song and put it up on the thread, it's not a bad one actually.
Cheers anyway.

The definition is contained within the lyrics themselves.

You got to ball
And have a good time
And that's what I call chooglin

So, it's screwing and partying.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Surely it's gotta have something to do with being on a river boat.....?

I was playing pool in the student union between university classes (around 1970) when I heard a guy call out to his friend across the room, "Hey, Max! When we goin' chooglin'?"

I had heard the CCR song and didn't know what "chooglin'" was, but from this exchange I figured it meant partying and having a good time, probably in the company of women...

It's not you. Creedence is at or near the top of most misheard lyrics lists.
Fogerty had a good voice, but not the best articulation.

Yah! Understood he had taken elocution lessons from the late Jack Ely of 'The Kingsmen'.
