I had a Rouse 'Stang park by me yesterday. Rouse certainly does great work IMO. That Noble M-400 looks even better, Lightnin. Sadly, outa my reach though.

I've always wanted to have Mr. Smith build me one of these.

Image

It's basically a Go-Cart for adults.
It uses a FWD engine/transaxle arrangement but re-fit to become a mid engine RWD.
He can build it for right side drive or left just as easily.
It will accept a number of engines.
With a 2.0L Honda inline 4 and a 6-speed manual it basically performs like a modern sport bike.
Apparently the WRX engine fits like a glove, which is scary.
It weighs under 1,500 lbs, fully wet.
Extremely stiff chassis that makes a Ferrari seem like a Lada.
No insulation, no roof, no doors.

Sheer adrenaline.

It's called a Javan R1 and is made by hand by Javan Smith in Jolly Old England.
Made by custom order only.
This one pictured is the first one he built, hence the 001.
Think that was 2007, maybe?
Pretty sure he's still in business but it's a cottage shop.
Retired gent doing it for love.

Pretty crude website, just used for initial contact purposes.

Funny you should pick now to revisit this.
Just yesterday I was thinking about it and wanted to remember more so I searched my rag archive until I found the article about it in the November 2007 issue of Sports Car International.
Great minds think alike!
Or was that fools seldom differ?
I always forget!

I just caught this You Tube presentation. There is something brilliant about it. When I see a car go down the street and it resembles a friends car, I automatically associate that car with the friend. Same thing with a guitar. A buddy of mine who was bouncer is about 6'4" and he plays a Gibson V. So whenever I see anything that resembles a Gibson Flying V, I automatically think of him. That is his guitar of choice. Although I respect it, I can't see myself playing it because I am one short dude!

I guess the point I am trying to convey is that sometimes our possessions do define our character and who we are (in a good way)

My buddies that play country music own a scratched and worn Tele's, Old Fender tweed amps, and ragged old pick up trucks. Pretty simple an basic. That is all you need! Our guitars and cars do tell a story.
