A fine example for a Jello flavour and colour!
Congratulations, Glenn.

Thanks, Paul kicked in the Jello flavor of Cherry to go with it.

I finally completed my P/A upgrade.
The only thing I did not change was the Peavey EQ.
It has always worked just fine and has never had so much as a hiccup.
The power amps were toast from many, many years of overwork, the crossover was an el-cheapo P.O.S. and I never did have a power conditioner.

The last piece of the puzzle was placed yesterday.
The PLX.
I ordered it several months ago but it was on backorder.
I don't have a band at present so I was in no hurry.

Both of the amps are a little bigger than they need to be by 100 watts each side at 8 Ω.
I'm hoping they will last longer by not driving them as hard.
Not that the old RMXs didn't last a long time.
They must have seen at least 25+ years of use and abuse.
By looking at the front of these new ones you'd think they have the same power.
Both say 2500 watts.
They're not the same.
The PL is definitely beefier than the PLX.

One thing is certain; that DriveRack is a much better crossover.
My overall sound is much improved.
Can't wait to try it in a live situation rather than just in my little studio.

That’s a sweet rack you have there, Matt. Even the Eagles would find that a substantial quality power setup. :P
I agree with you about the EQ. Don’t fix what’s not broken. Nice DBX. Some equipment new or not is like an old friend. I’m bad that way. I hate getting rid of old friends, sometimes good new ones are hard to find, and at other times the old ones have to go. Decisions, decisions. Looks like you made some good ones. :D

Thanx, FSB.
I think I made good choices too.
One interesting aspect of the new rig is that the old RMXs were class AB where these new PL style amps are both class D.
The immediate benefit I notice right away is the weight.
I can carry this rack by myself even at my age.
The old rig was a two man job even when I was young and strong like bull.
The second benefit is power consumption and heat.
I had the rig on for two hours, playing some CDs on an older CD player I keep in my studio for just that purpose and when I powered it down everything was just slightly warm, not hot.
Those old amps, the fans would run for at least 15 minutes after powering down after a little workout like that.
These new amps have fans but I don't think they ever came on even once.
Also, in my home studio, which is actually the dining room, the old rig would trip a 15A breaker after about 30 - 45 minutes or so.
Now I have bigger amps and 2 hours with no tripping, which leads me to believe I likely won't trip anymore.
Me happy.
I do wonder about the longevity of a class D amp though.
My only experience with class D was an Ampeg 500 watt bass head and it had so many issues I sold it for a pretty big loss after the 3rd time it came out of the repair shop.
At the time there was talk on the interweb about class D being inherently better but some said it was inherently worse.

Both of these QSCs are MIA but I assume at least some of the parts will be sourced from offshore.
QSC has a number of less expensive lines that are assembled offshore, China I think.
I am hoping the MIA amps use better offshore parts than the MIC ones.
The old rig did fail me once.
The last time I used it on stage a couple years ago.
Had to cut the gig short by about 15 minutes.
We saw whisps of smoke coming out of the bottom amp which I power the subs with and so push harder.
It was the sudden loss of thump that drew our attention.
I was unable to repair or sell that one as the stink wouldn't dissipate and the tech said it was not economically feasible to repair.
I sold the other one after the tech replaced a couple of inexpensive parts related to the cooling system.
A thermostat and a relay if memory serves.
That fateful gig forced my upgrade path.

All that you said is pretty much dead on. Heat has been and is an enemy of electronics. That was one of the big causes of old TV premature deaths. Even the wiring takes a beating. Less today though. One seldom knows about the components’ grade inside. Sometimes higher grade or military grade electronics are bragged about, but even that can be a variable,

On a side note, I was once invited into a back room as an uber expensive rich man’s rare stereo amplifier was being dismantled for repair. The amp was absolutely gorgeous on the outside. But, opening it up revealed a ton of rusty innards. I was then told it had been brought by the original owner from Hong Kong where it, apparently, had seen the fate of others like it (just from normal use). The rusting in that area was not uncommon, I was told. Ya just never know.
You are pretty far away from Hong Kong, Matt, and your rig is cool, so I think you’ll be just fine. :D

Thanks, FSB.

I just realized I made an error in my above posts.
The amps I used to run were from the MX line, not the RMX line.
Just for the sake of clarity.

Congrats, Mr. Nylon.

Pretty nice look there. I’m guessing which one is heavier, and that’s okay. Lemme see. Cherry Jello is Lite.

Nice basses. 8) For some reason, the walnut one looks like it would be heavier than the cherry, but I'm sure that's psychological from seeing that type of wood finish, probably.

Thanks gents for the kind words. It's ironic that I chose the SG for the grain in the body. The really great thing also, it weighs in at 7.10 pounds. This old man's neck, and shoulder feels fine with this bass on the lighter side. Image

Telecoustic.
Haven't seen one of those in ages.
Don't think I ever saw one at all in paisley.
Good find Mike.
