Good for you Derek.
Sounds like a nice little score.

So it gets the Road Rex seal of approval?

The Road Rex Seal of Approval is so applied to this Standard Jazz. I was a bit annoyed that the bridge volume pot was that loose. But an 11mm socket tightened that up, and remounted the control cavity cover.

It might not have been installed tight enough to begin with.

This pot was real loose. Anyway, all better now.

That's a cool guitar. 8) I like those 1930's looking acoustics, especially arch tops. How does it play?

Plays superbly! Nice setup, just feels great! I had been looking at these guitars for a while and think the Recording King are the nicest of group... and at $99 it was a no-brainer! I wish I could find a cheap and good arch top (my Ibanez Artcore hollow body/arch top is nice, but it's a little quite for just playing acoustically).

Maybe something like an Epiphone or Washburn? There's some company called The Loar, which has that 30's or 40's vibe to it, but I don't know how much they go for. Reverb.com usually has a bunch of stuff on there, although I never bought anything from that site.

Although my friends and family are already threatening an intervention! :)

I picked up a Martin Backpacker this afternoon.2 or 3 times a year we go to spend time with our daughters and grandkids in Labrador and I get severe guitar withdrawal so now all I have to do is toss the little darling in a big suitcase and fly away happy. BTW I was amazed with how loud and full the tone is from this little gem,it's not up in D-28 or D-45 territory in tonal range but for such a tiny body,it has amazing tone and projection.

Looks like a great little axe to add to the arsenal, Derek. Have fun with that little addition.

Make sure you don't get any raspberry Jello on that. It's far too purty to mess up. :wink:Congrats!

Thanks, Raspberry Jello doesn't get close to this one. Arctic White, and Raspberry don't mix that well.
