This came in today. I got a sweet deal on it because of Cyber Monday. I haven't plugged it in yet, but it plays and sounds nice acoustically. Pretty loud, too. I finally got my hollowbdody bass after 28 years of wanting one. 8)

CONGRATS Paul! It looks good. The Black looks super! Best of playing with it! The photo turned out really great too! Image

Thanks. I still haven't plugged it in yet, but I will. My girlfriend played it and she wants to get another one for herself. She really likes it. I'd like to get some flats for it, though. It has rounds on it right now. I have no clue what kind. Labella makes some flats for Hofner which they say will fit, so I could get those, or just inquire Rotosound about them like I mentioned before.

I'd do the La Bella's with out thinking twice about it. I used the La Bella's on the Hofners I had, and the sound was great. just me though.

I think you're right about that. They're in a light gauge and I know they'll fit. I don't have to mess around with anything to find out. Besides, it's not like I don't have Rotos on my other basses. I don't have to be that loyal to a brand. :P

With strings, loyalty only goes so far. When I had the Hofner 500/1, D'Addario pretty much told me they had no intensions of making strings that would work with the Hofner. So, hello La Bella for the Hofner. I still do use D'Addario for standard style bass strings, but I do know I'd use La Bella strings if I wanted, or needed to.

They also make specialty strings for the Fender Bass VI, or the Schecter Hellcat (their version, but the bridge is different like the Hofner situation, thus shorter length.) I have a Schecter Ultra VI, which I do believe has the same bridge as their Hellcat, so I suspect when I change the strings on that thing, I'll probably have to get those. Maybe not, though. The Fender has a tremolo bar with that sort of bridge, so the string space is longer on it. The thing is, The Schecter comes with Ernie Ball strings, so there's just those, too. Sometimes, these things can be a pain in the arse. :P That's the one good thing about a Jazz or P, or even their copies, you don't have to worry about getting the wrong strings for them.

Isn't the truth about the somewhat standard type strings. The Mustang is a bit of a pain with it being a short scale, but not that bad.

Yeah, it has a regular fixed bridge instead of an arch top type one or string through body set up. You can be sure the short scale sets should fit.

I got back my Super Bassman, and went with a Bassman 115 Neo. Good sounds.

That's a nice set up. 8) Is it the one you had from before?

And speaking of short scale Fenders, the non-bass variety, my latest gear purchase is one of the new Aged White Offset Duo-Sonics. You can't have too many white Fender electrics. :)

Have her strung with D'Addario balanced tension 9-40 gauge strings and bending is a pleasure.

Nice! I played one of these the other day on a lark, and was pleasantly surprised at how well it played. Built much better than the previous generation of these!

Congrats!
