I finally got the Markbass up and running. The first thing that surprised me was the wait time turning it on. Then I realized it has a tube preamp. That's a bonus for me. The sound is warm and clear all the way down the B string without being over bearing in the low end. The highs are sweet and crystal clear.

Needless to say I'm impressed.

MarkBass heads have that extra power up time for the safety of the amp/preamp. But once they're powered up they do fine.

Ah ha. I thought there was a preamp tube in there due to the slow turn on and the cooling fan on the back. It still sounds great for what I'm doing. I also made a cheat sheet there is an introduction video/interview with Richard Bona where he shows his amp settings so I just copped them.

The tube sound in MarkBass heads can be amazing when they're set right.

Yeah I love the full range tone. Part of me wishes I had a fretless to hear that sweet midrange.

I just looked up the owners manual online and it is a solid state preamp. I'm willing to bet they use the same housing for all of the Mini Mark amps and there is a tube one too.

I believe they do. I know the actual outer dimensions of the cases are almost, if not the same. The tube preamp casing is the same as a non tube head.

What did you go and do?
Did you give an old man a case of GAS with that new bridge post?
Yes, I think you did.
I'm taking you off my Christmas list.
You've been a very naughty boy.

Okay Google, show me this so-called guitar fetish site.

Thank you.

Found it.

I will wait for your review before proceeding.

Ok I just opened the package and here are my first impressions:

For Matt Only: These parts are junk and I'm returning them immediately! Don't waste your money! Ok Matt, stop reading now.
For the rest of you: I'm very impressed by the substance and quality of these parts. They weigh in at 459g or just over 1 pound. The chrome plating and workmanship are top notch. I can't wait to try the adjustable, pop in trem arm. I'll be putting it in on my next string change, which won't be long. I hope everything installs as it should. I took some pictures (not the greatest) of what I received and I'll post more after the install.

It makes sense. It saves time and money to have a whole stack of the same box then to have them made individually.

Finally got my Mexi-Partscaster finished. It started as an upgrade to my 80'MIJ Squire(new neck) about a year and a half ago and ended up being a whole new guitar. Parts include MIM neck and body,Fender locking machines, fat 60's,vintage style steel block bridge,8 screw mint PG,Schaller strap locks.Quite happy with the result. Love the fat 60's.

Thank You! I had originally ordered a black body but it got lost in the shipping. They had no black left in stock so I ordered a candy apple red one instead of waiting who knows how long. Think I'm glad I did. :D

Huh.
Interesting.
As soon as I stopped reading Mark's post just as I was told to (at what seemed like roughly the mid-point) my GAS went away almost immediately.
That's understandable though.
Learning something is junky typically has that affect on me.

Well, I hope they don't give you too much hassle returning it, Mark.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
