Thanks, yeah,....... it's a lot easier when they follow you home like that.

It's funny how they do that when you go into those places. :P

Cool bass. 8)

Thanks Paul, How do those basses know how to do that? I've noticed Amp heads, and Cabs do the same thing.
I guess it isn't any easier when the sales rep. tells me, If I don't but this stuff, he'll turn into a Klingon, and blow up the Earth. I've saved the Earth again. Image

I just got a Blackstar HT1R MKII. Fun little amp and great for the home studio.

My Players Series Tidepool Strat got here today too, but it's already back in the box waiting on an RMA. Did not like :(

Congratulations on the amp. Sorry about the guitar, though.

It's a really fun little amp for sure. I've been so wrapped up in modeling amps and amp sims the last 20 years I have forgotten how much of a difference a tube circuit makes. This is a hybrid but it still counts. I'm just worried it might be a gateway drug to a full on one and that would not be good lol.

As for the Player, I got the RMA back this morning but decided I should put stock size strings back on it so they didn't get after me for it on a technicality. I pulled it out of the box and put .09's on it and fixed the muddled up bridge and double checked the relief and wow, it plays like a dream now. Maybe the neck just needed some time to acclimate to the dry AZ spring and get it's stuff together. I played it for about an hour with a smile on my face and mulled it over, but decided the aesthetic defects on the neck and more importantly, a crack in the finish on the trem cover plate screw hole that would likely spread still warranted a return.

Now the next big decision is which American model am I going to go for instead. Seriously considering the Elite because of that fancy neck but at that price it will require some serious negotiation with the wife. My best guess is we would reach detente if I got rid of the Jazzmaster too.......

The Epi Viola. A really nice playing bass.

Thanks, It's a nice one for sure.
I haven't had a Viola style, size bass since 1971. I figure it was a long time coming that I replaced the "Electric Lady".

Today I bought a pair of Celestion G12T75s in 8 ohm.
I have always liked these speakers and I wanted to have some on hand to try in amps that cross my path.
I realise they're primarily known as Marshall stack speakers but I find them to work well in lots of amp brands.
They have a big bottom end that breathes very well.
I think the first place I will try one is in my Thiele cabinet

Yup.
There it is.
There's that deep ballsy sound again.
Haven't heard that since I sold the Rivera.
That one's staying right where it is.

Great, Matt. I like the Celestion 12’s in the Mustang IV. So much that if the electronics quit, I’ll make a cab with them. Nice full smooth response at low volume, good at mid volume, and great at ear bleeding volume. They can be sweet or get down dirty grungy but, for me, not like a vintage method screwdriver torn fuzz distortion speaker. Although, they are built well enough that with the right gear they might be able to emulate that. Something to be said about the popularity of Mustang amp sales. Celestion can take some credit for that. They are also, I believe, less likely to crap out like other big names I have experienced. That said no speaker is indestructible AFAIK. I’m sure that if one exists it would be unaffordable or unavailable.
A lot of young uns’ missed out on the audiophile speaker wars of the late 60s and early 70s. My ‘64 Parisienne had me install top end popular Jensens that I should have removed before selling the car. Along with JBLs, Altec, Infinity, and the like, esoteric aside, Celestion gathered respect and a huge following when you could find them, perhaps, more on this side of the border? With a liking and respect for others as well, I find that same great Celestion vibe with an axe and amp as you are experiencing now. YMMV

Enjoy.
