I got some "Amplified Peg" coming my way. Details and obligatory pics to soon follow when I get it, and check everything out.

Thanks guys. Yah; I'll try and get some pictures up of it...but first, a good set up.
I was surprised that both of my "affordable" Epi's came fairly well finished and set up. Of course the steel strings they put on these guitars completely stink (as far as I'm concerned, and with the amps and pedals I use), so I usually go with Nickel wound 10's on humbucker guitars right away to mellow out some of the sparkle. Rosewood is always dry when you open the box (you know for $250 they aren't using the prettiest cuts---so proper care and lots of playing is the only thing that brings out the delicious veins and grains). But fret ends, truss setting, and intonation seem to be just fine (though, I haven't gauged anything). Can already see and hear the pickup's need raised.
Been busy at work, and just welcomed a brand new Grandson to the world, so it'll have to wait for the weekend.

Epi’s have done well in the past, and some, even from those workers from the Gibby factory, have said Epi’s recent quality on occasion kicked the mother company at their lower to mid range. I can’t say, but that’s the rumours. Once you're all set up you'll be ready to rock, Gramps. Enjoy the new toy and the grandson.

I have just bought this beautiful Fender Stratocaster Special and is one of the best guitars I've ever played
the neck is smooth with jumbo frets and the color is Fiesta Red is just a stoning guitar.

I'm changing out the TX600 head, to acquire a Fender Bassman 800 head. That's my latest gear purchase for some time.

That’s a nice piece of serious hybrid there, Glenn, and light for us older dudes too. Excellent choice.

Yep! That it is. Paul's Ampeg PF800 head he's getting in is a light weight power house as well. The Ampeg is more compact in size, than the Bassman is. More friendlier for him doing gigs also. I like that old style amp head look.

The one cool thing about the Portaflex, is you can attach it to the Portaflex cab and store it inside of it when not using it. Of course, you'd need the cab in the first place, which I don't have. Maybe down the road I can get one.

That's a good point on the Portaflex series. When the head is stored in the cab, it's secured. Out of sight, out of mind. Not too many non players know, or are aware that the head is in the cab.

I guess that originates from the original models from the 60's, but I wonder how stable that is with transporting? I suppose it does alright.

Well, it is pretty cool, Paul. 8) It also has quite the history so, although nothing is certain, that speaks well for it.

Nice grab.

Come to find out, I'm going to have to wait a few more days to get it, because of a screw up with the bank, and New Year's holiday. I thought it was going to show up today. Oh, well... It took me a long time to get this, so what's a few more days?

At least you have it locked in so you know it's your PF800 coming. Just too bad you have to wait the extra time. Post a bunch of pics of it when it shows up too! Image
