Bought this for $100 and was figuring to part it out, the tubes alone would recoup my money, but I thought I would run it past my amp tech just to make sure. He said it was nearly all orginal (1969) and only needed to be recapped and an odd resister or two. So it became a winter project.

This is what my son and I turned it into. Used two '68 Jensen P12Qs I had been saving for 20 years, and all the accompanying cab and hardware. Installed a new reverb pan and was quite surprised as this amp sounds terrific! It turned out pretty nice.

It's not every day you see a Super with a pair of twelves.
Trés cool.

Thanks for the kind comments. We had a good time doing it and it came together pretty quickly once all the parts came in. My son was the one who picked out the blond tolex and oxblood grill cloth. Since there was never any blond combos, except the Twin-Amp, I thought it could be a cool what could have been or a missing link type thing. The vintage Jensen C12Qs are only rated at 25 watts each but are wired in parallel at 4 ohms, so I can push it a wee bit.

Next year we are seriously thinking maybe it is time to do a complete build of a Tweed Champ from a kit, maybe Mojotone or some other company. We got time to suss it all out.

I just bought this tilt-back amp stand - very sturdy!

Mike would that amp stand take a 65lb combo?

Last thing I bought was one of these. The RJM amp gizmo.
Works brilliantly. Now I can kick in my effects loop, boost, channel change. Graphic Eq and reverb. With just one switch.

Well that has me tempted then. I'm finding lately that angle and proximity are everything

Nick, just be sure that you find one that is stable. Some of them are
top heavy and when using the highest angle it still puts too much up
front weight and very close to a fall forward situation. This one is good
but there is one by MF that costs less but has risk of tipping forward mate.

It's like anything, you usually get what you pay for.

just ordered a zoom g5n multi-effects unit from sweetwater today. I should have it Thursday.

I sold my old g5 to a friend, and didn't get around to replacing it. I saw this unit on the namm page, and decided to give it a whirl.

should arrive Thursday- yay!
